POLICE are appealing for the help of the public to trace a 26-year-old man reported missing from Balerno.
Martin Moran was last seen around 6am on Friday, 18 November, near Larch Grove House in Balerno and it is believed he has walked in the direction of Bridge Road, Balerno.
He is described as white, around 6ft, of slim build, with short fair hair. When last seen he was wearing a beige trench coat, black trousers, black shoes and a black hat.
Sergeant Gary Stout said: “Martin’s family are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare and I am asking anyone who may have seen him or knows where he is to get in touch.
“If you can help please call us on 101, quoting reference number 1479 of Friday, 18 November, 2022.”
Police are continuing to appeal for information to help trace missing 47-year-old Averil Shepley from Edinburgh. Averil was last seen in the Marchmont area at around 10.30pm on Friday (30 September, 2022).
She is described as white, around 5ft 7in tall, of slight build, with short dark hair.
When last seen, she was wearing a black woolly hat with toggles on each side and black trousers. It is believed she may be wearing a bright pink Goretex jacket and a black and red rucksack in her possession.
Chief Inspector Murray Tait said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Averil’s welfare and would urge anyone who may have seen her, or has any information on her whereabouts, to contact police.
“Likewise, if Averil sees or hears about this appeal, please call us or your family, so we know you are safe and well.”

Detectives investigating the murder of Peter Coshan are appealing for information to trace the movements of a motor vehicle in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland area of England between Monday, 15 Aug, 2022 and Tuesday, 16 Aug, 2022.
They are particularly interested in sightings of an older style dark coloured Vauxhall Vectra, with a 57 registration plate, as enquiries continue to find Peter.
Detectives believe the movements of this vehicle are central to the investigation and are appealing for the public’s help in trying to find out more about them.
Officers are urging people to think back and consider if they saw something unusual during the hours of darkness on Mon, 15 Aug, and Tues, 16 Aug, in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland areas.
Police have set up a portal that gives the public access to send information directly to the Major Investigation Team. You can remain anonymous when submitting information.
Peter was last seen in the Seafield Rd area of Leith, Edinburgh around 11.50pm on Thurs, 11 Aug, and was reported missing the next day.
Peter, of Edinburgh, is believed to be dead and officers are treating his death as murder. However, his body is yet to be recovered.
Peter’s family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Patrick, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “This is obviously a very distressing time for Peter’s family and our priority is to find him.
“I am therefore seeking the public’s help in trying to find Peter’s body.
“I am appealing for anyone who may have been in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland, including travelling on the A7, the A68 or any others roads in these areas, during the hours of darkness on Monday, 15 August, and Tuesday, 16 August.”

TWO MEN TO APPEAR AT EDINBURGH SHERIFF COURT TODAY
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Peter Coshan (75) have arrested and charged two men and are continuing to appeal for information.
Former Fettes College teacher Peter Coshan was last seen in the Seafield Road area of Edinburgh around 11.50pm on Thursday, 11 August, 2022 and was reported missing the next day.
Officers can confirm that Peter, of Edinburgh, is believed to be dead and they are treating his death as murder. However, his body is yet to be recovered.
Two men, aged 27 and 63, have been arrested and charged in connection. Both men are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today Thursday, 18 August.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Patrick, of Police Scotland Major Investigation Team is appealing to the public for information. He said: “Our thoughts are very much with Peter’s family at this difficult time.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace Peter and I would encourage anyone with any information regarding Peter’s disappearance to contact police as a matter of urgency.
“Any piece of information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it is, could prove vital so please do pass it on to officers.
“We have also set up a website that gives members of the public access to a form to send information directly to the Major Investigation Team.

Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted murder in West Pilton.
A 24-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being deliberately knocked off his motorbike by a car on Ferry Road Drive around 1.45pm yesterday (Thursday 28 July).
The man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where his condition is described by medical staff as stable.
The occupants of the vehicle made off and enquiries are ongoing. The car, a black Fiat Panda, had previously been reported stolen from the local area.
Officers believe this was a targeted attack and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage of what happened, to contact police.
Superintendent Mark Rennie said: “Violence of this nature won’t be tolerated in any part of the city. This is a prime example of a small number of young people creating fear and concern in a local community.
“Our investigation is progressing well and we will have an enhanced policing presence in the area to reassure local residents and prevent any further disorder. Every single person involved in recent incidents in the area will be pursued and arrested and we will ensure that identified offenders are quickly put before the courts.”

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in Edinburgh.
Around 2.30pm on Friday, 13 May, officers were called to a report of a man having been seriously assaulted on Forrest Road. The 73-year-old sustained a serious head injury and was taken to the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh for treatment.
The suspect is described as being in his late 20s, between 5ft 10in in height and 6ft, of muscular build, with facial hair. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket and spoke with a local accent.
He was in the company of another male, described as being in his late 20s, of a similar height, with black hair, facial hair and was wearing an orange jacket.
Detective Constable Kieran Keddie said: “This incident saw a man sustain a serious head injury and it is vital we trace those involved.
“I am appealing for anyone with any information which may assist us to get in touch.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have dash cam footage to contact us.”

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following an assault with intent to rob which occurred in the city on Monday (24 January, 2022).
Around 7pm, a 66-year-old man was in his car at Craigleith Retail Park when he was approached by a man who opened his car door and demanded money.
The man ran away from the retail park and no money was stolen.
The suspect is described as a white man with a local accent, approx. 5ft 8in tall, of slim build with short hair and he was wearing dark clothing.
Detective Sergeant Rory Legge, of Corstorphine CID, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim who luckily did not sustain any injuries.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have witnessed what happened, or any motorists who were in the area with dash cam footage, to please come forward.

Police Scotland has released an image of a man they believe may hold information which might assist in relation to an incident that occurred on West Richmond Street at around 11.10pm on Wednesday, 15 September, 2021.
The man is described as around 40 – 50 years old, average height and heavy build. He was wearing a black jacket, black trousers and had a bright blue rucksack.

The male is described as being in his late 30s, of average build with short dark hair.

Searches are continuing to trace 28-year-old Alice Byrne who was last seen in the Portobello area on Saturday 1 January.
Alice was last seen by her family at her home around 2am on Saturday, 1 January. She met friends in Marlborough Street and left a flat there between 8am and 10am on Saturday morning.
She may have headed towards the promenade area. Police believe the area would have been busy with the public and vehicles and it is requested that people in the area at the time check pictures, videos or dash cam footage that they may have for any sightings of Alice.
Alice is described as white, around 5ft 6ins in height and of medium build with short black hair. When she was last seen she was wearing a, black top, black jeans ripped at the knees and white trainers.
Chief Inspector Kieran Dougal from Craigmillar Police station said: “Alice is known to frequent the Portobello and New Hailes areas of Edinburgh. Since she was reported missing, officers have been carrying out extensive searches and enquiries in these areas.
“Local officers led by specialist search advisors have been assisted by resources including the air support unit, police dogs and our marine unit.
“Officers will continue to speak to people who know her and who live in the local community. Searches are continuing throughout the area and we would also ask local residents to check their outbuildings and sheds, as well as urging anyone with any information on Alice’s whereabouts to get in touch as soon as possible.”
“This is an upsetting time for Alice’s family who are extremely concerned that she has not been in contact with them since Saturday. This is completely out of character for her.
“I would again urge anyone who has seen Alice since Saturday morning, or anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible. If Alice reads this appeal, I would urge us to phone her family, friends or the Police. Contact 101 quoting reference 0647 of 2 January.”
