Around 6.50am on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026 police received a report of a man having taken unwell whilst on a bicycle within St Marks Park, Warriston Road.
Emergency services attended and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death which police are not treating as suspicious.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who was within the park at this time, especially the two passers-by who assisted until paramedics arrived, to contact them on telephone number 101 quoting incident number 0556 of 23 June, 2026.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged, and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today. While there is no wider threat, it continues to be a live ongoing investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing Scotland, supported by local policing officers in Edinburgh and other specialist national capabilities in Scotland.

Police Scotland has released a CCTV image of a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their enquires into a serious assault on Lower Granton Road, Edinburgh.
The incident happened around 4.30pm on Saturday, 16 May, 2026. The man is described as white, 6ft in height, of heavy build, aged 40-50 years-old and bald.
Detective Sergeant Keith Morrison said: “We would ask the man in the image, or anyone who recognises him, to contact us as soon as possible.”

POLICE are appealing for information following a serious crash in North Edinburgh in th early hours of this morning (Thursday, 11 June, 2026).
Around, 2.35am, a black Fiat 500 struck a building on Crewe Road North at West Granton Road.
Emergency services attended and the 18-year-old male driver and a 17-year-old male passenger were taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
A road closure was is in place following the crash, but Crewe Road North has now reopened.
The 17-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with a theft.
Enquiries are ongoing.

POLICE are appealing for information following a fire in Edinburgh. Around 7.05pm on Monday, 25 May, 2026, we received a report of a fire at Arthur’s Seat.
Emergency services attended, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service remained at the scene to dampen down hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
Enquiries are ongoing alongside partners to establish the cause of the fire.
Local Area Commander Alison MacDonald said: “We know that the area around Arthur’s seat was busy last night due to the good weather and would ask that anyone with any information surrounding the cause of the fire come forwand ard and speak with officers.
“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2975 of 25 May, 2026.
“As the good weather continues, we will continue to work with our partner agencies and would encourage members of the public to stay safe and behave responsibly.”
Area Commander David Dourley is the Local Senior Officer for City of Edinburgh. He said: “At 6.50pm on Monday, 25 May, we were alerted to reports of a large grass fire on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.
“We know many people will be wanting to enjoy the good weather, but we ask they do so responsibly. Wildfires have the potential to destroy property, landscapes and wildlife, which is why it is so important that members of the public use extreme caution under these conditions.
“Please avoid lighting outdoor fires and be mindful that one spark can spread rapidly, causing a large amount of damage.
“If you spot an outdoor fire, please report it immediately by calling 999, providing your location, and any other relevant information so we can respond quickly.”
Jamie Hamilton, Senior Ranger at Holyrood Park said; “We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the emergency services for their quick response to this incident and would encourage anyone with any further information to come forward.
“We know that people are keen to enjoy the good weather but would ask them to remain vigilant and not to use any form of naked flame within the parameters of the park, dispose of rubbish properly, and to report anything of concern immediately.
“The High Road within the park has been closed to vehicles, and we would ask visitors to continue to follow guidance from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and avoid the affected areas.”
POLICE are appealing for information after a damaged vehicle was seen travelling on the A68 near Pathhead.
Around 9.35am on Saturday, 23 May, police received a report of a white Renault Clio travelling south on the A68 with damage to the front passenger side and no tyre on the front passenger side wheel.
The vehicle was later traced abandoned near the village of Crichton and enquiries have established it had previously crashed on the A6106 near a service station outside Dalkeith around 9.20am.
Constable Stewart Logan said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who saw the vehicle, or who witnessed the crash, to contact police.
“I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage from the area around the time to check their footage and pass on anything of note to us.”

POLICE are appealing after a woman was struck by a tram on Leith Walk at 8.50am tthis morning (Sunday 24 May), near the Scotmid store between Albert Street and Pilrig Street.
Road policing officers are appealing for information.
Emergency services attended and the 19-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.
No one else was injured.
The road remains closed while crash investigation work is carried out.

POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was robbed of her car in Edinburgh yesterday (Tuesday, 12 May, 2026).
Around 3.20pm, the 22-year-old woman was parking her white Peugeot 208 at the rear of the Scotmid store at Morvenside Close, Wester Hailes. As she was sitting in her car, a man approached, threatened her with a knife and demanded her keys.
A member of the public came to assist the woman as she got out the car. The suspect managed to enter the car and another man who had been standing nearby got into the passenger side. They drove off.
The two suspects are described as white and of gaunt appearance. One was aged 30-40 years with a scruffy blonde beard. He was wearing a black tracksuit and baseball cap. The second man was wearing a navy tracksuit and a black balaclava.
Detective Inspector Robert Wallace said: “This was a very frightening experience for this woman who was simply trying to go to the shops when she was targeted. Thankfully, she was uninjured.
“We are continuing significant enquiries to trace the two men responsible. This includes gathering and viewing CCTV footage from in and around the area.
“This is a busy area and I am confident that there were people nearby who haven’t yet spoken to police. I urge them to please get in touch.
“I also ask anyone with personal footage or dash-cam to review their footage and come forward if it holds anything relevant.”

Police are appealing for information following a serious crash on the A720 city bypass, Edinburgh. Around 1.10pm on Thursday, 7 May, 2026, we received a report of a crash involving a red, white and blue Honda CBR 1000RR motorcycle near the Hermiston Junction.
Emergency services attended and the 30-year-old male rider was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and reopened around 2.30pm.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and saw the motorcycle prior to the crash or who may have dash cam footage which could assist to get in touch.”
