Witness appeal following Chambers Street assault

POLICE in Edinburgh are appealing for information following a serious assault. The incident happened in Chambers Street around 9pm last night (Saturday, 19 August, 2023).

A 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Officers are working to identify two males as part of the ongoing investigation.

The first male is described as being aged between 16 and 17 years old, 5ft 5ins tall, with buzz cut style, dark hair. He was wearing a black and grey tracksuit jumper and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The second male is described as white, between 17 and 18 years old, 5ft 7ins tall, with short blonde/ginger beard and dirty blonde curly hair. He was wearing a football top.

Detective Sergeant Steven Gray, of Gayfield CID, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about those involved to get in touch.

Appeal following attempted murder incident

Detectives investigating an attempted murder in North Berwick are appealing for witnesses, CCTV or dashcam footage.

This follows an incident involving a white Audi A3 and a red Ford Focus (registration plate YM65 WWF) at around 8pm on Sunday 30 July 2023 on Clifford Road, roads near Tantallon Castle, Whitekirk, Tyninghame, all in North Berwick and roads near the entrance to Foxlake, Dunbar.

Detectives are also seeking information on the whereabouts of the Red Ford Focus (registration plate YM65 WWF).

Detective Sergeant Jade Wardell said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident. It is important we gather as much detail as possible, and any small piece of information could prove vital.

“Also, if anyone has dash cam equipment, please check it as there may be footage which could aid our investigation.”

Hanover Street assault: Do you know this man?

POLICE have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries into an assault which took place in Edinburgh on Saturday, 20 May 2023. The incident happened on Hanover Street at around 4.15am.

The man is described as aged between 20-30 years old, medium build, black hair with a tattoo on his left hand. He was wearing a grey and white two-tone puffer jacket, blue jeans and dark shoes.

Detective Sergeant Steven Dick said: “We are keen to speak to this man who may have information which could assist with our enquiries. I would encourage him or anyone who may recognise him to contact us.”

Ratcliffe Terrace collision: Police appeal for information

POLICE are appealing for information following a crash on Ratcliffe Terrace at 8.45am on Thursday 26 January, involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a cyclist.

A man aged 27, the cyclist, was taken to ERI for treatment.

Police: Did you see this black Skoda?

About 1730hrs, on Sunday 2nd July 2023, a black Skoda has been travelling in convoy with a Silver Honda from Tesco, Meadow Place Road, westbound along Meadow Place Road towards Broomhouse roundabout and then onto Broomhouse Drive.

This vehicle has been involved in a road traffic collision.

Police seek witnesses to George Street disturbance

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a disturbance in the city centre.

Around 3.15am on Monday, 24 July, 2023, officers were called to a report of a disturbance outside a premises on George Street.

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a stable condition. A further two men, aged 20 and 24, were also taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers appealing for anyone with information that might assist them to come forward.

Detective Inspector Steven Gray said: “We know that the area would have been busy at the time and a number of people must have witnessed the incident.

“Three men have been seriously injured so it’s imperative we establish exactly what happened.

“Any small piece of information could prove vital, so please do get in touch.”

Pedestrian dies in Calder Road accident

A 21-year-old male pedestrian has died after being struck by a car on Calder Road. The incident happened around 7am this morning (Tuesday, 4 July).

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the silver Toyota Auris involved in the collision was uninjured.

The road was closed until around 12.10pm to allow for investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are working to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information which has not yet been passed to police to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.

Police appeal for information following Victoria Street assault

Detectives in Edinburgh are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in the city.

The 30-year-old man was assaulted around 3.30 am on Saturday, 1 July, 2023, on Victoria Street near the Grassmarket area.

He suffered a facial injury and was taken to The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Detective Constable Christopher Stewart of CID said: “We are looking to trace a man aged between 18 and 24 years old.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time. We would also be eager to hear from motorists travelling in the area who have dash-cam. Please check the footage, as it may have captured something which could prove vital to our ongoing enquiries.

“Any small piece of information could assist our enquiries, so please pass it on. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 0752 of 1 July, 2023.”

Police appeal following car fire

POLICE in Edinburgh are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set on fire in Greendykes Road.

The incident happened around 11pm on Wednesday, 21 June, 2023, when a silver BMW was found on fire. The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured.

Detective Inspector Keith Fairbairn said: “It is fortunate that no one was hurt.

“We are appealing for anyone with dash-cam or private CCTV footage that could assist us with our investigation to contact us.”

Meadows assault on Saturday: Police appeal for information

Detectives in Edinburgh are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in the city.

The incident happened around 3.10pm on Saturday (17 June, 2023) on Leamington Walk in the Meadows area and involved a cyclist and another member of the public.

A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital and released after treatment.

Detective Constable Michael Campbell said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward.
