Corstorphine crash victim named

A man who died in a crash in Corstorphine last Saturday (30th March) has been named as 29-year-old Dylan Clack.

His family have asked for privacy and released the following statement: “Dylan, known as Dizzy, was a beloved son, brother, father, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

“He will be sadly missed by all of us. Dylan will be remembered for his big smile.”

The incident happened around 11.50pm on Corstorphine Road at the junction with Balgreen Road when a silver VW Tiguan collided with a wall.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 17-year-old male, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Sergeant Louise Birrell, of the Edinburgh Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Dylan’s family and friends at what is a very difficult time for them.

“Enquiries into the full circumstances continue and anyone who has not already spoken to officers is asked to call us on 101, quoting incident number 4595 of Saturday, 30 March, 2024.”

Pedestrian seriously injured in Oxgangs collision

Road policing officers are appealing for information after a pedestrian was struck by a bus in Edinburgh. The incident happened on Oxgangs Road North, near the junction with Oxgangs Avenue, around 8.50pm last night. (Friday 16 February).

The 74-year-old male pedestrian was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries.

No one on the bus was injured.

The road was closed until around 3.25am this morning (Saturday, 17 February) to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Grant Hastie, of the Road Policing Unit in Edinburgh, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information to get in touch.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who was on the bus who hasn’t yet spoken to an officer, or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 3657 of 16 February.”

Police appeal following fatal crash on Gorgie Road

POLICE are appealing for information following a fatal crash on Gorgie Road yesterday (Tuesday 14 November 2023).

The incident took place around 1.05pm, involving an HGV and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 62-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick, from the Edinburgh Road Policing Unit, said: “At this time, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who died.

“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and would appeal to anyone who was in the Gorgie Road or Calder Road area around the time of the crash to please come forward.

“If you have any information, or potential dashcam footage, which could assist our enquiries, please call police on 101, quoting incident 1457 of 14 November.”

Police appeal following hit-and-run crash on Gorgie Road

Road policing officers in Edinburgh are appealing for information following a crash involving an electric scooter and a car, which took place on Gorgie Road.

The incident happened around 8.20pm last night (Saturday, 18 September) at the junction with Stenhouse Drive. The male rider of the electric scooter was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The car involved failed to stop at the scene and officers are appealing for witnesses or any information to help trace it. It is described as being blue or silver in colour.

Constable Neill Sage, from the Edinburgh Road Policing Unit, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and are keen to trace the driver of the car involved.

“If you witnessed the crash, or have any possible dashcam footage from the Gorgie Road area last night, please call police on 101, quoting incident 3709 of 18 September.”
