POLICE are investigating an attempted murder in Edinburgh are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
Around 1.50am yesterday (Monday, 16 March 2026), police received a report a man had been stabbed in the Sighthill area.
Emergency services attended and the 20-year-old victim was taken to hospital.
Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and are checking for any relevant CCTV images.
Detective Sergeant Keith Morrison said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in and around the Sighthill View, Sighthill Crescent areas between the hours of 1am and 2am on Monday morning.
“If you saw or heard anything, please get in touch. A young man has been stabbed and seriously injured and it’s imperative we trace whoever is responsible.
“I would also ask anyone with dash cam or doorbell recording equipment to check if they have any footage which could assist our inquiry.
“We are still establishing the full circumstances of this crime so please do not think we have all the information we need, any small detail could prove significant. Please pass it on.”

POLICE are appealing for information following a serious crash in Edinburgh early this morning – Sunday, 15 March, 2026.
It took place around 4.20am, on the A71 near to its junction with Addiston Farm Road and involved a blue Renault Wind.
Emergency services attended. The 18-year-old male driver and his two 18-year-old male passengers were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. One passenger’s condition is described as critical and the other two conditions are described as serious.
Sergeant Grant Hastie said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this serious crash.
“We are urging any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. If you were in the area around the time and saw anything that may be relevant, please contact us. In addition, anyone with dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch.”

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a crash at Fort Kinnaird.
Around 11.30am on Thursday, 12 February, 2026, there was a collision involving a pedestrian and people carrier style taxi in the carpark of Fort Kinnaird Retail Park.
The pedestrian, a 69-year-old man, was assisted by the driver of the vehicle and a member of the public at the scene. He later attended hospital for treatment.
The incident was reported to police on Wednesday, 18 February, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “I’m appealing for the driver of the vehicle to come forward. They did stop at the scene and assisted the pedestrian and will likely be unaware of the subsequent police involvement.
“I’d also ask the member of the public who helped the man to contact us, as they may have information which could assist our investigation.
“Anyone else who saw what happened or has relevant dash-cam footage is urged to call 101 quoting reference 1925 of 18 February.”
ROAD Policing officers are appealing for information after a fatal crash in Edinburgh.
Around 11.10pm last night – Monday, 2 February, 2026, Police received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on the A90 near the Kirkliston slip road at Cramond Bridge.
The car involved was a red Ford Fiesta.
Emergency services attended, but the pedestrian, a 36-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
Sergeant Michael Thomson, of Road Policing East, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who died at this difficult time.
“I am appealing to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and witnessed the crash to come forward with information.
“I’d also ask that those with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything of significance.”

POLICE are appealing for information following a robbery at a premises in Portobello on Saturday, 31 January.
The incident happened around 4.55pm on Portobello High Street when a woman entered a shop, threatened a staff member and made off with a three-figure sum of money.
The woman is described as white, 30 to 40-years-old, around 5ft 4ins and of thin build. She was wearing a black puffer style jacket with the hood up, dark trousers and a purple headband. She spoke with a local accent.
Detective Constable Luke Wilson said: “Thankfully no one was injured but the staff member was left very shaken and upset by what happened.
“We are asking anyone in the area at the time who can help with our investigation to get in touch. Please check any private CCTV to see if anything has been captured that could assist officers.”

POLICE are appealing for information following a serious assault in Edinburgh.
Around 4.35pm on Friday, 16 January, 2026, police received a report of the serious assault of a 20-year-old man at a bus stop on Nicholson Street.
The suspect approached the victim and seriously assaulted him, before making off towards Nicholson Square.
The suspect is described as white, of stocky build, around 6ft 2ins and aged between 25 and 32. At the time he was wearing a long black Nike coat, a black hoodie with his hood up, black trousers and dark coloured shoes.
The 20-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.
Detective Constable Gary Lipscombe said: “This incident left a man with serious injuries, and extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace the person responsible.
“We know that the area was very busy at the time and would encourage anyone who witnessed the incident and has yet to speak to officers to come forward.
“Anyone with information, or concerns, is asked to contact officers locally or call 101, quoting incident number 2461 of 16 January, 2026.
“Alternatively, information can be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Two males, aged 17 and 15, have been arrested and charged after a report of people with bladed weapons seen in Edinburgh city centre yesterday.
Officers, including specialist firearms officers, were called to Rose Street around 2.55pm on Friday, 16 January, 2026.
No one was reported as injured.
The 17-year-old is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 19 January.
The 15-year-old will be reported to the relevant youth justice authorities.

Detectives in Edinburgh are appealing for information following the attempted theft of an ATM in Barnton early this morning.
The incident happened around 2.50am on Wednesday, 7 January, 2026 at a supermarket in Whitehouse Road.
A black Nissan Navara is understood to have been used in an attempt to steal the ATM which then drove deliberately at a police car. The police officer was not hurt.
The driver exited the Nissan Navara and got into a vehicle which could be an Audi A3 with another two men.
The vehicle made off in the direction of Maybury Road. The Nissan Navara was recovered at the scene.
The three men were dressed in black clothing with face coverings.
Detective Inspector Alan Sharp said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious.
“As part of enquiries, we are carrying out a review of CCTV and conducting door to door enquiries.
“I would ask residents to check doorbell footage to see if you have captured anything that can assist our enquiries. I would ask motorists to do the same and check dash-cam footage.”

Road Policing officers are appealing for information after a serious crash in Edinburgh.
The incident happened around 12.30am on Thursday, 1 January, 2026 on Queensferry Road near Dean Bridge and involved a male pedestrian and a white Suzuki Ignis.
Emergency services attended, and the pedestrian, an 81-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment to what are described as serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Officers are appealing to those in the area at the time to come forward with information.
Sergeant Christopher Bright, of Road Policing East, said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information to come forward.
“We know that this was a busy evening with it being Hogmanay and that there were a number of pedestrians and vehicles in the area at the time, so we’d ask those who have yet to speak to us to get in touch.
“In addition, we’d ask those with dash-cam footage to review this to see if it has captured anything significant.”
