Robberies: Man to appear in Court

A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with thefts and robberies in Edinburgh.

The incidents happened between Sunday, 2 March, and Tuesday, 10 March, 2026, in the Niddrie, Leith and Portobello areas of the city.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, and he is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today – Friday, 13 March, 2026.

Detective Constable Fiona Murray said: “We are aware of the concern these incidents caused to local communities and I would like to thank members of the public for their assistance.”

Man charged following disturbance in Calder Gardens

A 23-year-old man arrested in connection with a disturbance in Edinburgh has now been charged. He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today – Wednesday, 4th March.

Around 8.25am on Monday, 2 March, 2026, police, including firearms officers, attended the Calder Gardens area following reports of a man with a bladed weapon. 

Two people were injured and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. A man suffered injuries consistent with being stabbed. A woman suffered a laceration to the head, not believed to be caused by a bladed weapon. Both have since been discharged.

The incident is not being treated as terror related. 

Chief Inspector Scott Kennedy said: “I’m aware misinformation continues to be shared online about this incident which could cause further distress in the local community. I’d like to be clear: we did not receive any reports of a man attempting to enter a nursery or any educational establishment and this was not a hostage situation.

“While we understand what happened was frightening, I’d ask people to avoid speculating about the details and be mindful that false information could affect any future court proceedings.  

“We still have a police presence in the area for reassurance and I thank the public for their continued assistance and support.”

Man arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder in Lochend

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Edinburgh.

Around 9.50pm on Tuesday, 3 February, 2026, police were called to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Lochend Drive. 

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

The 31-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, Thursday, 12 February, 2026.

A 35-year-old man was also arrested in connection with attempting to pervert the course of justice and released pending further enquiries.

Restalrig death: Man to appear in court tomorrow

A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a woman in East Edinburgh.

Around 1am on Thursday, 28 August, 2025, Police were called to a report of a disturbance at a property on Restalrig Avenue.

Emergency services attended and a 43-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, where she died a short time later.

Her next of kin are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.

She can now be named as Ndata Bobb.

The man was taken to St John’s Hospital for treatment. He has since been arrested and charged in connection with the death and is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow – Monday, 1 September, 2025.

Detective Inspector Kevin Tait said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Ndata at this extremely difficult time.

“Our investigation remains ongoing, however we are not looking for anyone else in connection with Ndata’s death.

“This is a shocking incident and I would urge anyone with any concerns, or information, to contact police.”

Portobello disturbance: Man arrested and charged

MAN TO APPEAR IN COURT TODAY

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a disturbance in the Portobello area of Edinburgh.

Around 10.55pm on Saturday, 12 April, 2025, police were called to Bath Street and Mentone Avenue.

Three males, one aged 17 and two aged 18, were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

The 21-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today – Tuesday, 15 April, 2025.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Enquiries remain ongoing.

Fernieside Murder: Man to appear in Court today

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 78-year-old woman in Edinburgh on Tuesday (21 May).

Around 8.25am, police were called to a disturbance within a house in Fernieside Crescent. Police and Ambulance attended however 78-year-old Margaret Parker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 36-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Thursday, 23 May),

The 36-year-old man has also been charged in relation to the attempted murder of a 55-year-old woman and a 42-year-old woman during this incident. They did not require medical treatment.

Detective Inspector Dougal Begg said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Margaret Parker and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

“A continued police presence can be seen in the area as officers continue their enquiries into this isolated incident.”

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Muirhouse Parkway hit and run: Man to appear in court

Around 4.10pm yesterday (Sunday, 14 April), police received a report of a crash involving a 63-year-old female pedestrian and a car on Muirhouse Parkway.

“The woman was taken to The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

“The car left the scene before officers arrived.

“A 61-year-old man was later traced and arrested. Enquiries are ongoing.”

UPDATE @5pm:

THE man was was subsequently charged and he is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow (Tuesday, 16 April, 2024).

Fraudster to appear in court

A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a large scale fraud in Edinburgh, Lothians & Fife which happened between January 2018 and April 2022.

Following an investigation by Drylaw Initiative Team, it was established that the man defrauded 21 victims out of £25,000.

He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Friday, 8 July, 2022).
