A 39-year-old man has been arrested after a man was found injured in Wardlaw Street, yesterday (Tuesday, 24 March, 2026).
Officers were called to property around 2.40pm and a 50-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment. Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but not critical.
Detective Inspector Alan Sharp said: “Our enquiries are ongoing in the Wardlaw Street area.We would urge any witnesses or anyone with information which may assist our investigation to contact us.”

A man has been arrested in connection with a disturbance in the Calder Gardens area, which happened around 8.25am this morning (Monday, 2 March).
Police, including firearms officers, attended after we received reports of a man with a bladed weapon.
The incident is not being treated as terror related.
Two people were injured and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to non life threatening injuries. A man suffered injuries consistent with being stabbed. A woman suffered a laceration to the head, not believed to be caused by a bladed weapon.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers will remain in the area.
Chief Inspector Scott Kennedy said: “I’d like to thank the public for their assistance and patience while we dealt with this incident.
“I understand what happened was alarming for the local community and I want to reassure the public there is no ongoing wider risk. However, if you do have concerns please speak to the officers at the scene or call us on 101.”
Council Leader and Chair of the Edinburgh Partnership, Jane Meagher, has paid tribute to the response of emergency services and council staff.
Following an arrest made in connection with the incident in the west of the city earlier today (2 March), Councillor Meagher said: “I was deeply shocked to hear about this morning’s horrific incident in the west of the city.
“I want to pay tribute to council colleagues, Police Scotland and other emergency services for their quick response and to wish the two people who were injured a speedy recovery. This must have been particularly traumatic for them and for those who witnessed the attacks. My thoughts are with them all.
“It’s important to echo the Police’s statement that this was an isolated incident, and the suspect is now in custody. I would urge people not to speculate or share unverified information on social media.
“I fully understand the concern this will cause within the community, and we have contacted local residents’ and other groups to offer our support. This will continue for as long as it’s needed.
“Moments like this remind us of the need to stand together – and of the importance of community spirit and tolerance. Everyone has the right to feel safe in their home, at work, on their street and in their neighbourhood.

A 16-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with the death of a 22-year-old man in Leith yesterday (Tuesday, 2 September, 2025).
Around 2.10am, police received a report a man had been injured on Great Junction Street at Bonnington Road, Edinburgh.
Emergency services attended, however the 22-year-old man died at the scene.
His next of kin are aware and are being supported by specialist officers. Formal identification has yet to take place.
Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Pleasance of the Major Investigations Team said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
“Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries as our investigation continues, and we would urge anyone with concerns to speak to them.”
A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault of a woman in Restalrig.
Around 1am this morning (Thursday, 28 August, 2025), officers were called to a report of a disturbance at a property in Restalrig Avenue.
Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital where she died a short time later.
The 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault and enquiries are ongoing.
Restalrig Avenue remains closed while enquiries are carried out.
Detective Inspector Kevin Tait said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman at this extremely difficult time.
“There will be a continued police presence in the area while our investigations continue and I would urge anyone with any concerns, or information, to approach these officers.”
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in relation to two wilful fireraisings in Edinburgh.
The incidents which took place on Thursday, 6 March, 2025 and Sunday, 16 March, 2025 in Albert Street and Milton Road East, respectively, are linked to the recent discharge of firearms and other fireraising incidents in the city.
The man has been arrested for wilful fireraising and reset of a stolen vehicle. Enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Superintendent Paul Grainger said: “I want to reassure the community that we are continuing to work on this investigation and this is just one of many arrests over the coming weeks.

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Khasha Smith have arrested a man as they continue to appeal for information.
Khasha, of Edinburgh, was last seen to be safe and well on a FaceTime call on Tuesday, 10 October, 2023, aged 35.
Following extensive enquiries, Khasha is believed to be dead. However, her body is yet to be found.
A 39-year-old man has today, Friday, 6 September, 2024, been arrested in connection with her death and enquiries are ongoing.
Khasha’s family have been made aware and have asked that their privacy is respected.
Detective Chief Inspector Bob Williamson, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, is appealing to the public for information.
He said: “Our thoughts are very much with Khasha’s family at this extremely difficult time and they continue to be supported by specialist officers.
“They are understandably devastated and it is vital we get answers for them.
“Extensive enquiries remain ongoing to trace Khasha and I would again encourage anyone with any information regarding her disappearance to contact police, as a matter of urgency.
“Any piece of information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it is, could prove vital, so please get in touch.”

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with assault following the death of a man in Edinburgh.
Officers were called to Westfield Road in the city around 12.55pm yesterday (Friday, 7 June) following concern for a man within a property.
The 53-year-old was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware.
Detective Inspector David McAlinden said: “Our enquiries remain ongoing but we are treating this as a contained incident.
“Westfield Road has been closed to allow for investigations to be carried out in the area.
“We know this has had a significant impact on the local community and wider public so we would like to thank them for their patience and understanding.”
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder which happened Groathill Road North, Edinburgh around 2.30pm last Wednesday, 29 May, 2024.
A 41-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Following information from the public, Police executed warrants at three addresses in the Wester Hailes and Stenhouse areas yesterday (Friday, 12 April, 2024).
Drugs with an estimated value of around £38,000, a significant amount of cash and other valuable items were recovered.
A 44-year-old man was arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.
