Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian which occurred on Horse Wynd yesterday morning (Tuesday, 26 September, 2023).
Emergency services responded to the incident around 10.40 am, and the 66-year-old female pedestrian was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe her condition as critical.
The 20-year-old male cyclist was also taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be checked over and later discharged.
Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.

POLICE are appealing for information following a robbery at a post office in Edinburgh which took place yesterday (Sunday, 24 September).
Around 7.20am a man entered Milton Road West Post Office, threatened a male member of staff and demanded he hand over money.
The suspect then left the premises with a two-figure sum of cash before making off in the direction of Duddingston Park and heading north towards the crossroads of Duddingston Road.
The member of staff was not injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male, late teens to early 20’s, 5’7” to 5’8” and of slim to medium build.
He was wearing a two-tone black and grey hooded zipper top, light blue Nike Joggers with a white motif on the left thigh, black and white Nike trainers, and was carrying a cross-body black ‘man bag’.
Detective Inspector Kevin Tait from Edinburgh Division CID said: “The member of staff has been left badly shaken by this incident and it is vital that we trace the person involved.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the suspect in the surrounding area before or after the robbery this morning to please get in touch.
“We would also urge any motorists with dash-cams who were nearby to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance to our enquiries.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a robbery in Edinburgh. The incident happened around 7.20am on Sunday, 24 September, 2023, at a Post Office on Milton Road.
The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 26 September, 2023.
Detective Inspector Kevin Tait said: “We would like to thank the public for their assistance with our enquiries.
“There has been increased police patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.”
POLICE are appealing for information after a 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being assaulted in Tollcross. The incident happened shortly after 12am yesterday (Friday, 15 September) in Brougham Street.
The man was approached by a group of three male youths and subsequently assaulted. He required treatment at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh to injuries sustained in the incident.
One of the youths is described as about 16-years-old, clean shaven, tall with brown hair and a fringe. He was of stocky build and wearing a black jacket, grey bottoms and black shoes.
The second was also about 16-years-old, white, clean shaven and wearing a grey hooded top with grey jogging bottoms. He was riding a dark coloured bike with white writing
The third was a younger male, white, small and of thin build with blonde hair. He was wearing a black hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.
Detective Sergeant Steven Dick said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information which could help to get in touch.
“Enquiries so far have established the three youths had been in the city centre on Lothian Road and the Meadows prior to and after the assault.
“If you believe you have may have seen them or have any other information relating to the assault please come forward. We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area.

POLICE are appealing for information following reports of an assault at the football pitches on Muirhouse Parkway during a Craigroyston Community Youth Football game on Sunday, 10 September, 2023.

POLICE are appealing for information after three youths were assaulted in Niddrie.
Around 8.30pm on Sunday, 3 September, 2023, three Ukrainian youths, two males aged 13, and one male aged 15 were walking towards a bus stop in Niddrie Mains Road, Edinburgh.
Around this time, they were approached by a group of eight youths dressed in dark clothing. Two youths from the group assaulted one of the 13-year-old males, leaving him with a laceration to his ear. Other members of the group then attacked the other two youths. The 15-year-old was punched and the 13-year-old was stabbed.
The group, who were all wearing dark clothing, ran off following the incident.
The injured boys were treated at hospital and the incident was reported to police yesterday (Monday, 4 September, 2023).
Officers are treating the incident as racially aggravated and relevant CCTV footage is being reviewed for any additional information on the group of youths.
Detective Inspector Keith Fairbairn said: “I know there were members of the public in the area at the time of the attack and I am asking them to contact us with any information they may have.
“We are appealing for details on the group of youths, who were dressed in dark clothing, perhaps you saw them somewhere else, did you see them running off? Any small piece of information could assist us in identifying those responsible for these attacks.”

About 1750 hours, Friday 11 August 2023, a small black vehicle travelling south has turned right into Comiston View from Comiston Road in Edinburgh.
At this time, a cyclist has been cycling north and, on crossing the bell mouth of the junction, has collided with the side of the vehicle, resulting in him falling off to his injury. The vehicle has not stopped. The cyclist was taken to the ERI where he required stitches to his leg. His pedal cycle was broken in three places.
The vehicle has been described as a Toyota, possibly a Yaris or Aygo, with tinted rear windows.

POLICE in Edinburgh are appealing for information following a serious assault.The incident happened in Chambers Street around 9pm last night (Saturday, 19 August, 2023).
A 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
Officers are working to identify two males as part of the ongoing investigation.
The first male is described as being aged between 16 and 17 years old, 5ft 5ins tall, with buzz cut style, dark hair. He was wearing a black and grey tracksuit jumper and grey tracksuit bottoms.
The second male is described as white, between 17 and 18 years old, 5ft 7ins tall, with short blonde/ginger beard and dirty blonde curly hair. He was wearing a football top.

Detectives investigating an attempted murder in North Berwick are appealing for witnesses, CCTV or dashcam footage.
This follows an incident involving a white Audi A3 and a red Ford Focus (registration plate YM65 WWF) at around 8pm on Sunday 30 July 2023 on Clifford Road, roads near Tantallon Castle, Whitekirk, Tyninghame, all in North Berwick and roads near the entrance to Foxlake, Dunbar.
Detectives are also seeking information on the whereabouts of the Red Ford Focus (registration plate YM65 WWF).

POLICE have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries into an assault which took place in Edinburgh on Saturday, 20 May 2023. The incident happened on Hanover Street at around 4.15am.
The man is described as aged between 20-30 years old, medium build, black hair with a tattoo on his left hand. He was wearing a grey and white two-tone puffer jacket, blue jeans and dark shoes.
Detective Sergeant Steven Dick said: “We are keen to speak to this man who may have information which could assist with our enquiries. I would encourage him or anyone who may recognise him to contact us.”

POLICE are appealing for information following a crash on Ratcliffe Terrace at 8.45am on Thursday 26 January, involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a cyclist.
A man aged 27, the cyclist, was taken to ERI for treatment.
