Edinburgh University recognition for Edinburgh’s social enterprise champion

Following in the footsteps of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Neil Armstrong, Annie Lennox, Ian Rankin and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau and others, Leith resident Jonny Kinross has received an honorary doctorate from Edinburgh University for his charitable works. Jonny has devoted his working life to serving and supporting the most vulnerable in society and is currently CEO of the Grassmarket Community Project. University grants for community initiatives

Communities across Edinburgh and Lothians are to benefit from a £70,000 project to support groups tackling vital social issues. Among them is North Edinburgh Arts, which has received funding to support their Community Café by enabling local people to improve their skills as well as extending the cafe’s opening hours. Leith not-for-profit Gym offers mindfulness sessions thanks to charitable donation

A not-for-profit gym in Leith is to offer new mindfulness and yoga sessions designed to boost mental wellbeing, thanks to a four-figure donation from Aberdeen Standard Investments Charitable Foundation. Projekt 42, which aims to highlight the bond between physical fitness and mental health, has received over £3,100 to run two yoga and mindfulness courses over a period of six months.
