POLICE are appealing for the help of the public to trace a 25-year-old man reported missing in Edinburgh.
Kieran Maloney was last seen around 0.10am on Sunday, 22 June on Ferry Road near the junction with North Junction Street.
He is described as around 6ft 1ins, of medium build, with short, red hair. When last seen he was wearing a navy blue bomber jacket and jeans.
Inspector Grant McCulloch said: “Concerns are growing for Kieran’s welfare and we want to make sure he is safe and well.
“I am asking anyone who has seen Kieran or knows where he might be to get in touch.”

POLICE are appealing for information following a crash involving a child pedestrian and a car on Ferry Road, Edinburgh.
The incident happened around 6.35pm on Friday (30 May 2025) in Wester Drylaw and involved a blue Land Rover Discovery.
The pedestrian, a 7-year-old boy, was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People for treatment. His injuries are serious but not described as life threatening. The driver was uninjured.
The road reopened around 11.15pm following further investigation.
Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“I am also keen to speak to any drivers who were in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage which has captured something of significance.”

POLICE were made aware of a collision involving a car and a seven-year-old male pedestrian which happened on Ferry Road in Wester Drylaw shortly after 6.35pm this evening (Friday, 30 May, 2025).
The wee boy has been taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People for treatment. His injuries are serious but not described as life threatening.
Enquiries are ongoing and the slip road in Wester Drylaw is currently closed.
Police remain in attendance.
POLICE are continuing enquiries following the murder of 65-year-old Nashir Ahmed on Sunday, 10 March, 2024.
Mr Ahmed was standing with a 48-year-old man at a bus stop on Ferry Road, Edinburgh, Leith Library, around 8.30pm when they were approached by another man who then attacked them.
Emergency services attended and both men were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Mr Ahmed later died in hospital on Friday, 15 March, 2024.
Mr Ahmed’s family said: “Nashir was a loving husband and father. He was a big part of our family and we are devastated at losing him.
“He was heavily involved in Edinburgh’s Bangladeshi community and will be greatly missed. He loved life and cared for all his family and friends. We will always remember his warmth and his kindness.”
His attacker is described as black, around 30-years of age, with short, dark hair. He was wearing a red tartan scarf and a long, black jacket with a hood.
Detective Chief Inspector George Calder said: “A family has been left feeling bereft as they come to terms with losing someone so integral to their lives. The circumstances are heart breaking, and I can’t possibly imagine the pain they are feeling during these difficult times.
“We continue to follow up several lines of inquiry and I would reiterate my appeal to anyone who has any information about this crime or the person responsible to contact us. Any small piece of information could be crucial in our ongoing investigation, so please do pass it on.

A 65-year-old man has died in hospital after being seriously assaulted in Edinburgh on the evening of Sunday, 10 March, 2024.
Nashir Ahmed was standing with a 48-year-old man at a bus stop on Ferry Road near to its junction with Great Junction Street and Coburg Street, when they were approached by another man who then attacked them.
Emergency services attended and both men were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The 48-year-old victim was discharged after receiving treatment for serious leg and facial injuries however Mr Ahmed later died in hospital on Friday, 15 March, 2024. His family are aware.
Detectives are treating his death as murder and are renewing their appeal for any information which could assist their investigation.
From enquiries carried out so far, the suspect is described as black, around 30-years of age with short, dark hair. He was wearing a red tartan scarf and a long, black jacket with a hood.
Detective Chief Inspector George Calder said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with Mr Ahmed’s family and the other victim and specialist officers are supporting them during this extremely difficult time.
“This was a completely random and unprovoked assault on Mr Ahmed and his friend and it is absolutely vital that we trace the individual responsible for this despicable and senseless crime.
“Ferry Road would have been busy around the time and we would continue to urge anyone who witnessed this attack as well as anyone with dash-cam or private CCVV footage of the area which could be of significance, to please get in touch.
“Incidents of this nature can understandably cause concern to the local community however we are following a number of positive lines of enquiry and there will continue to be additional patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

Residents at an Edinburgh care home are developing their digital dexterity thanks to the generous donation of 15 new Amazon Fire 7 tablets from a national construction firm.
Design & Build Contractor, McAleer & Rushe gifted the devices to residents at Mathieson House Care Home on Ferry Road, which is owned and operated by Renaissance Care.
The home sits close to Leith, where McAleer & Rushe will be based on a major long-term project delivering much needed new homes at the Dockside. The firm has also pledged to build tall planters and a seating area in the care home’s manicured garden, allowing residents to enjoy the warm summer days in comfortable surroundings.
Elizabeth Griffiths, aged 91, resident at Mathieson House said: “This was a lovely gift for everyone to receive.
“Tablet meant something very different when I was younger, so these types of things are all a bit new to us at the home, but the staff have been great at showing us how they work.”
Mathieson House is part of Renaissance Care group which currently owns and operates 16 homes across Scotland, including Letham Park, which sits on the same site in Ferry Road.

Road Policing officers in Edinburgh are appealing for information and witnesses following a serious crash on Ferry Road involving a car and a motorbike.
The incident, involving a silver Hyundai Ioniq and a purple Suzuki GSR, took place at the junction with Muirhouse Green, around 8.40pm on Wednesday, 10 May, 2023.
As a result of the incident the 32-year-old male rider was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where his condition is described as critical.
The male driver of the car and a male passenger were also taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. The other two passengers were checked over at the scene.
The road was closed for around five hours to allow investigations to be carried out and re-opened around 1.30am.
Sergeant Stephen Quinn from Edinburgh Road Policing said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area around this time and who witnessed the crash or the vehicles involved to contact us.
“We are particularly keen to hear from the occupants of a grey SUV which was on the road around the time and who may be able to assist us.
“I would also ask anyone who was on the road at the time and who may have dash cam footage which could assist us to get in touch.”

Police in Edinburgh have released images of a man that they wish to speak to as they believe he may have information that can assist with an investigation into a serious assault and robbery.
The incident took place around 10.15 pm on Thursday 10th November 2022, on Ferry Road. The victim, a 46-year-old man, was assaulted and robbed, resulting in serious injuries.
The male shown in the images is described as being a white male, in his late teens to early 20’s, around 5ft 8 to 5ft 10 inches in height, slim build, shaved dark hair and was wearing a black t-shirt, light grey jogging bottoms and light coloured trainers.
Detective Constable Chris Docherty, from Edinburgh CID, said: “This incident was highly distressing for the victim and we’re eager to trace the man pictured. The male victim in this incident sustained a serious injury and was treated at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
“I am asking that the male pictured in the images to make contact with police in order that further enquiries can be conducted. I am also asking members of the public that if they recognise this individual to contact police.”

GOOD NEWS – MARYAM HAS BEEN TRACED SAFE AND WELL
Police are appealing for information to help trace 24-year-old Maryam Arshad from Edinburgh. Maryam was last seen in the Ferry Road area about 4.45pm on Wednesday, 20 July, 2022.
She is described as being five foot seven inches tall, with long dark hair worn in a ponytail. When last seen was wearing a pink lightweight summer jacket with maroon top underneath, patterned trousers with small flowers.
She was carrying a small black cross body black bag.
Inspector Caroline Flynn said : “We are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a Maryam and would ask her to get in contact.
“Anyone who knows where she is, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3581 of 20 July.”
