CCTV appeal following assault in The Meadows

Police Scotland has released CCTV footage of a man officers wish to speak to in connection with assaults in the Meadows area.

A number of women were approached separately by a man between 10.30pm and 11.30 pm on Monday, 11 January, 2021, when they were walking in the area close to Melville Drive.

A man, described as Asian, aged 20 to 30-years-old, about 5ft 7 ins to 5ft 9 ins and of a skinny build, wearing a dark slim-fit puffer style jacket, was seen at the time.

Detective Inspector George Calder said: “A number of women were approached by a man who assaulted them and we believe the man shown in these images can help with our enquiries.

“Officers are also keen to speak to anyone may have seen the man walking towards the city centre or near Argyle Place or who may have dash-cam footage, particularly from driving along Melville Drive at that time of night.

“Anyone who has not spoken to officers already and may be able to help identify the man, or the man himself, can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3502 of 11 January 2021, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Witness appeal following Craigentinny attack

Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured in a disturbance within a property at Craigentinny Road.

The incident happened around 9.10pm on Thursday night (26 November).

A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the incident and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment – his condition is described as stable.

Officers are investigating and are particularly keen to identify four people seen in a vehicle leaving the area in the direction of Portobello after the incident.

Detective Sergeant Keith Taylor of the Edinburgh Violence Reduction Unit said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances of this violent attack.

“Our enquiries so far suggest this was a targeted incident and there was no risk to the wider public.”We would urge anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around Craigentinny Road during Thursday evening to get in touch as soon as possible.

“We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have private CCTV or dashcam footage.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 3352 of 26 November, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Police appeal following attack on woman in Stockbridge

Police are appealing for information after an assault with intent to rob in the Stockbridge area.

The incident happened around 6.30pm last night (Thursday, 29 October) on India Place. A 25-year-old woman was walking along the road when she was approached by two males, one of whom grabbed hold of the women while the other tried to steal her handbag. One of the males struck the victim in the face twice and caused her to fall to the ground. The victim didn’t require hospital treatment.

The first suspect is described as a white male, approximately between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a dark coloured zipped jacket with the hood up, dark coloured trousers with a single white stripe on each leg and a plastic green monster Halloween mask.

The second suspect is described as a white male, approximately between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing dark cotton material clothing with the hood up and a red Halloween mask.

Detective Constable Zaira Marker, of Corstorphine CID, said: “We would urge anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have witnessed the assault or anyone who saw the males fitting the description before or after the incident to contact police.

“We would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage who was in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch.”

CCTV appeal following Stenhouse assault

Police have released images of a man who may have information that will assist their investigation in relation to an assault on a man in the Tesco Express store on Stenhouse Place East at around 9.30pm on Friday, 17 April, 2020.

Officers believe that the man in the image may be able to help with their ongoing enquiries.

The man is described as white, around 6ft in height and of stocky build with a bald head. He can be seen wearing a grey hooded top with red writing on the front and green Adidas jogging bottoms. He was with a black and white collie cross dog.

Police seek witnesses to Blackhall assault

Police are appealing for information following an assault of a 14 year old boy at a bus stop on Marischal Place in Blackhall. The incident occurred around 6pm on Friday evening (25th September).

Police are appealing for witnesses and any dash cam footage of the assault.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5ft 7, aged 18 – 20, pale complexion, short dark hair, wearing a white / grey tracksuit top, black bottoms, black Nike trainers and a cross shoulder bag.

Northfield assault: CCTV released

Police Scotland has released CCTV images of two men they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries in relation to an assault which took place around 9.15pm on Thursday, 27 August 2020 on Northfield Broadway.

As a result of the incident, a 30-year-old man suffered facial injuries and required medical treatment.

The first man is described as being in his early 30s, around 5ft 8in tall with short dark/black hair and prominent dark eye brows.

He was wearing a black suit, a black shirt and dress shoes.

The second man is described as being in his early 30s, around 6ft 2in tall and of slim build with short dark hair and facial stubble.

He was wearing a black jumper, black trousers and dress shoes.

Detective Constable Claire Riley of Edinburgh CID said: “We are eager to trace the men pictured as we believe they may be able to assist our enquiries, and would urge anyone who may recognise them to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Assault in Garibaldi’s: New CCTV

Police renewing their appeal for information in respect of an assault which occurred on Saturday, 4 January, 2020 at around 2.25am inside Garibaldis nightclub in Hanover Street.

Police have released new images of a male they would like to speak to as they believe he may have information that will assist their ongoing investigation.

The male in the image is described as white, in his early twenties, around 5ft 10ins tall, with mousey brown hair that is longer on the top and shorter at the sides. He is seen in the image to be wearing a light grey or blue top and a black coat.

CCTV images released following serious assault in Grassmarket

Serious assault West Port

Police in Edinburgh have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to as part of an ongoing investigation into a serious assault in the Grassmarket.

The incident took place in West Port at around 12.00 am on Friday, 4 October, 2019, when a 24-year-old man sustained a serious injury to his face.

The man in the image may be able to assist officers and anyone who recognises him is asked to contact police.

He is described as white, aged between 25 to 35-years-old, with brown hair. He was wearing a light brown jacket, dark jumper, dark jeans and dark shoes.

Detective Constable Thomas Archer, of Gayfield CID said: “The victim was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary having sustained serious injuries to his face.

“As part of our ongoing enquiries, we’re urging anyone who may recognise this man, or who has any information about this incident, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Police seek witnsses to assault in The Meadows

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information following an assault in the Meadows. The incident happened around 8.30pm last night (Friday 24 July) when an 18-year-old man was assaulted by four other men.

The man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment of his injuries which are not thought to be serious. 

The four suspects are described as males aged between 15 to 17-years-old with brown and blonde short hair.  At the time of the incident, one was wearing black shorts and a black top, another with black trousers and one wearing a white hooded top.

Sergeant Grant Robertson, of Howdenhall Community Policing, said: “We believe this incident to be a targeted attack and would like to reassure the public that there is no threat to the wider community.

“This incident happened at a time when the park was busy with other people and I would ask that if anyone witnessed this to contact police, in particular if anyone is in possession of any mobile phone footage.

“Officers will be actively patrolling the area and engaging with the local residents and people that use the park, and as ever, we encourage anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour to report it to us.

Appeal following disturbance on Hawkhill Avenue

Police are appealing for information after a man suffered serious injuries following a disturbance in Restalrig. The incident happened around 10.30pm on Wednesday (13 May) on Hawkhill Avenue.

A 27-year-old man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment for his injuries. He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Two men, aged 48 and 41, and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Clark Martin, of Gayfield CID, said: “Our enquiries continue to trace a further individual believed to be involved in the incident and we’d urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or has any information that could assist our investigation to come forward.”
