Scotland embraces annual ‘Poppy Day’

Thousands of volunteers took to the streets across the country yesterday to collect for the 2019 Scottish Poppy Appeal.

Sixteen refurbished apartments in Sighthill are helping people to build meaningful lives at home following time spent at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.

Originally a sheltered housing complex, a building in the Calders has been transformed by the City of Edinburgh Council to provide high-quality places to stay.

The Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership is now funding ongoing care and support for tenants at the St Stephen’s service as they recover in a homely setting.

Labour launch North & Leith general election campaign

Scottish Labour and Co-operative party candidate for Edinburgh North and Leith, Gordon Munro, launched his campaign at The Prentice Centre in Granton Mains Avenue yesterday.

Earlier this week, the great and the good of Scotland’s foodie scene were invited to discover culinary secrets from the recently opened Surf & Turf restaurant at Macdonald Holyrood Hotel.

Edinburgh community group welcomes new members

A community social group for people in Edinburgh, set up and run entirely by local volunteers, is looking to grow its membership. 

The Out and About in Edinburgh Group was set up by Royal Voluntary Service, the national volunteering charity, with support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.  The group meets twice a month at Café Connect at the Eric Liddell Centre (Morningside Road, EH10 4DP) before heading off to visit a wide variety of local places of interest by bus.
