Appeal for information following Portobello robbery

POLICE are appealing for information following a robbery at a premises in Portobello on Saturday, 31 January.

The incident happened around 4.55pm on Portobello High Street when a woman entered a shop, threatened a staff member and made off with a three-figure sum of money.

The woman is described as white, 30 to 40-years-old, around 5ft 4ins and of thin build. She was wearing a black puffer style jacket with the hood up, dark trousers and a purple headband. She spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Luke Wilson said: “Thankfully no one was injured but the staff member was left very shaken and upset by what happened.

“We are asking anyone in the area at the time who can help with our investigation to get in touch. Please check any private CCTV to see if anything has been captured that could assist officers.”

Spey Lounge serious assault: Do you know this woman?

POLICE in Edinburgh have issued images of a woman they believe may be able to assist with their investigation into a serious assault that took place in Leith on Monday, 5 December, 2022.

The serious assault took place around 1.25am within the Spey Lounge on Leith Walk.

The woman is described as white, 40-50 years-old, around 5 ft 6ins in height and of slim build with long, dark-coloured hair that was tied in a ponytail. She was wearing a black padded coat and white trousers.

Detective Constable Lyndsey Singer of Gayfield Police Station said: “We are keen to talk to the woman in these images in connection with this incident and would urge anyone who may recognise her to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Lothian Road assault: Do you know this woman?

Detectives in Edinburgh have released images of a woman who may be able to assist an investigation into an assault which occurred on Lothian Road on Saturday 19 November 2022, around 3.30am.

The woman is described as white, 5’4″ – 5’6″, of medium build, in her mid to late 20’s, with long shoulder length blonde hair.

She was wearing a beige/cream shirt-dress and white boots with a black handbag.

Detective Constable Neill Watt said: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we would urge the woman or anyone who recognises her, or anyone with any other information to please get in touch.

Police seek woman following vandalism and theft at Greyfriars Kirk

Police are appealing for information following the vandalism of a headstone and theft in Greyfriars Kirkyard.

The incident happened in Greyfriars Kirk, Candlemaker Row between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Sunday, 21 August, 2022.

Police Sergeant Charlotte Crerar of Gayfield Police Station said: “We are appealing for information following the vandalism and theft of a marble facing stolen from the headstone.

“We are keen to trace a woman who was seen in the area. She is described as being around 5ft 6 inches tall, with red/ginger hair and of slim build. She was wearing a striped purple and white top, black bottoms, lime green socks and trainers and spoke with an American accent.

“The headstone is of historic significance and is irreplaceable and anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0834 of Thursday, 25 August, 2022.”

Witness appeal following serious assault in Market Street

Detectives in Edinburgh are appealing for information after a 31-year-old woman was assaulted in the city centre.

The incident happened around 11.20pm on Sunday, 12 December, 2021, on Market Street directly underneath North Bridge outside Waverly rail station.

The woman sustained a serious head injury and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Officers are keen to speak to a man and a woman who were on the street at the time of the assault and then were seen on Jeffrey Street, going towards the Royal Mile.

The man is described as white, in his mid-30s, around 5ft 9ins, of medium build and with short dark hair. He was wearing a cream baseball cap, grey and blue padded jacket and a two tone blue hooded jumper, and blue jeans. He was carrying a plastic orange carrier bag.

The woman is described as white, also in her mid-30s, around 5ft 5ins, and of small build. She was wearing a knee length black padded jacket with the hood up and had small framed glasses.

Detective Constable Gary Lipscombe, from Edinburgh CID, said: “This part of the city was extremely busy at the time of the incident and we are appealing for anyone who was in the Market Street area and believes they may have seen what happened to come forward.

“If the man and woman see this appeal then please contact us. We are also keen to speak with any drivers in the area who may have dash-cam footage that could assist with our enquiries.

Dalry cemetery incident: can you identify tattooed man?

Police are appealing for witnesses after a male was seen acting suspiciously in the Dalry area.

Between 4.30pm and 6pm on Sunday, 21 March, a 22-year-old woman was walking her dog close to Dalry Cemetery when she became aware of a man following her.

Due to her concerns, she spoke to another woman within the cemetery and the man walked off in the direction of Dundee Street.

He is described as a white male, 5ft 8, of slim build, a tattoo of letters under left eye and wearing all black clothing with hood up.

Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish whether there was any criminality and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
