Police appeal for information following serious assault

POLICE are appealing for information following a serious assault in Edinburgh.

Around 3.30pm on Tuesday, 14 October, 2025 a 16-year-old boy was approached by two male-youths in Pentland View Park and seriously assaulted.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The first male youth is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, of medium build with short black hair and clean shaven, wearing a grey tracksuit. The second is described as white, around 6ft tall, of slim build with short dark brown hair and clean shaven, wearing a black top and black shorts. Both are believed to be aged 17-18 years old.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

DC Beverley Burnside, Police Scotland, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and speak with officers.

“We are also appealing to anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage who was driving in the area at the time of the incident to see if they have captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”

Police seek witnesses following serious crash on Annandale Street

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious crash involving a bus and a pedestrian.

The incident happened on Sunday, 28 September, 2025, at around 1.20am on Annandale Street, at the junction with Haddington Place.

An 81-year-old male pedestrian was involved in a collision with a bus as it travelled down Annandale Street.

The man was taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service where he remains receiving treatment. There were no other reported injuries.

Sergeant Louise Birrell said: “This crash happened in the early hours of Sunday morning and despite the late time, I’m asking anyone who may have saw what happened to come forward.

“The pedestrian had travelled on foot from the top of Leith Walk and I’d ask anyone who may have seen him, or captured the incident on a dash-cam device, to check your systems and provide anything of relevance as soon as possible.”

Appeal after cyclist assaulted on Blackhall cycle path 

Police are appealing for information and witnesses, following the serious assault of a cyclist on Blackhall Cycle Path, near to Davidson Mains.

The incident took place around 6.05pm on Tuesday, 2 September, 2025. The cyclist, a 46-year-old man, was cycling away from the Drylaw area on his green vintage-style Dutch bike.

The suspect was riding an offroad dirt bike and is described as white, around 5ft 10 and slim build, but their gender is unknown. They were wearing a black full-face helmet and black puffer jacket.

Detective Sergeant Rob Finch said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area or witnessed this attack to please come forward.

“Enquiries have established that two members of the public provided aid to the victim, so would ask them to contact police as soon as possible.

Police appeal following fatal crash at Roslin Glen

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash which happened in Roslin, Midlothian.

The crash happened on the B7003 at Roslin Glen at around 6.50am on Thursday, 14 August, 2025 involving a black KTM 990 Super Duke motorcycle and grey Kia Sportage car.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 43-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 44-year-old man, was not injured. The road was closed for approximately six hours for collision investigation at the scene.

Road Policing Sergeant Phil Winning said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the motorcyclist who died following this crash.

“I am appealing for any motorist who was on the B7003 and who may have witnessed what happened or had a dashcam device fitted that may have captured the incident or the vehicles immediately prior to the collision.

“Anyone who can assist our enquiries should come forward as soon as possible.”

Leonardo Incident: Three women charged under the Terrorism Act 2000

Three women have been charged under the Terrorism Act 2000 after a van was driven into an external fence of a business premises in Edinburgh.

The incident happened during a disturbance in the Crewe Road North area of the city on Tuesday, 15 July, 2025.

The three women – aged 31, 34 and 42 – who were earlier arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 have been charged and are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow – Monday, 21 July, 2025.

Police Scotland’s Counter Terrorism Unit are leading the investigation and enquiries are ongoing.

As part of the investigation, officers are appealing for information to trace the movements of a blue Ford Transit van in the Gorgie Road area on Monday, 14 July, 2025 and prior to the incident on Tuesday, 15 July, 2025.

They are also keen to trace the movements of a white Honda CR-Z on these dates. It was recovered from a carpark in Gorgie Road following the incident.

Anyone who saw either vehicle in the area, or has any information, is asked to contact police.

If anyone was in the Crewe Road North or Gorgie Road areas and has any relevant dashcam footage or saw anything suspicious, please contact police on 101 quoting reference 0416 of 15 July.

Murrayburn Assault and Attempted Robbery: Do You Know This Man?

Police Scotland has released CCTV images of a man officers believe may be able to assist with an ongoing investigation into an attempted robbery and serious assault in Edinburgh.

The incident happened at around 10.35am on Sunday, 13 April, 2025, at Murrayburn Place.

The man officers wish to speak to is described as South Asian in appearance, 25 to 30 years old, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins with black hair and a black beard. He was wearing a black Puffa-style jacket, cream trousers and black footwear.

Detective Constable Beverley Burnside said: “We would appeal to the man in the images, or anyone who recognises him, to contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone who has information that may assist is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1097 of Sunday, 13 April, 2025, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Ferry Road accident: Witness Appeal

POLICE are appealing for information following a crash involving a child pedestrian and a car on Ferry Road, Edinburgh.

The incident happened around 6.35pm on Friday (30 May 2025) in Wester Drylaw and involved a blue Land Rover Discovery.

The pedestrian, a 7-year-old boy, was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People for treatment. His injuries are serious but not described as life threatening. The driver was uninjured.

The road reopened around 11.15pm following further investigation.

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.

“I am also keen to speak to any drivers who were in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage which has captured something of significance.”

Appeal following serious sexual assault of teenage girl in City Centre

POLICE are appealing for information after a teenage girl was the victim of a serious sexual assault in Edinburgh on Sunday, 25 May, 2025.

The incident happened shortly after 5am in a basement storage area on York Place.

The 15-year-old girl was approached by a man at a bus stop by Marks and Spencer on Princes Street at around 5am. He then took her on foot to York Place.

After the assault the suspect left the area in the direction of Dublin Street.

The suspect is described as a white man with blond stubble/beard who spoke with a Scottish accent. He was wearing a black zip up hooded top, khaki green trousers, and Nike trainers. He wore a black balaclava.

Detective Inspector Mhairi Cooper from the Public Protection Unit in Edinburgh said: “This was a frightening incident for the girl and we have specialist officers supporting her and her family.

“From extensive enquiries within Edinburgh City Centre, we know the suspect approached her on Princes Street and then led her onto South St David Street, around St Andrew Square, onto Queen Street, then to York Place.

“Despite the early morning there was daylight in this busy commercial area. I am asking people who were within the area at the time and could have seen the suspect alone or with the victim, to come forward.

“CCTV from the New Town area is being gathered and checked – I would ask anyone with private systems to check these and submit anything of relevance to us as soon as possible.

“We continue to carry out door to door enquiries and I’d appeal to local residents and businesses in New Town who may have premises off street level to check any storage areas or lock ups and report any suspicious items or behaviour to us.”

Chief Inspector Brian Manchester, Local Area Commander, said: “We understand an incident such as this is concerning for the local community, and we have a dedicated enquiry team working on this investigation.

“Anyone with concerns should speak to officers without hesitation.”

Man seriously assaulted in Greenbank

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Edinburgh. 

Around 9.20pm last night (Thursday, 22 May, 2025), police received a report a man had been attacked by a group of males on Pitcairn Grove. The 54-year-old man was taken to hospital where he remains. 

Four or five men, all dressed in dark coloured clothing and wearing balaclavas, got out a grey-coloured Land Rover Discovery and attacked the 54-year-old. 

Officers are treating the incident as attempted murder and linked to several incidents which have been ongoing in the east and west of the country. 

Enquiries carried out so far have established the Land Rover Discovery travelled eastbound along the M8 and officers are appealing to any road users on the M8 last night to contact them. 

Detective Superintendent Paul Grainger said: “This has been a targeted attack and we are continuing our enquiries to identify those responsible. 

“We know the Land Rover Discovery drove along the M8 eastbound last night. It may have been driven at speed or erratically so I would appeal to any motorists with dash cams to check their footage as the images could be significant to our investigation. 

“If anyone has any information regarding this crime, please contact us.”

Witness appeal as pensioner assaulted in Broughton Road

POLICE SEEK MAN AGED 60 – 75

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Edinburgh.

Around 1.20pm on Tuesday, 20 May, 2025, a 76-year-old man was walking on Broughton Road near to Tesco when he was approached by a man and assaulted.

The man did not require hospital treatment.

The suspect is described as being between 60 and 75 years of age, around 5ft 10in in height, of slim build and bald. He was wearing light coloured clothing and has a distinctive crouched walk.

Constable Nina Zielke said: “The area was busy at the time and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam footage to contact us.”
