Appeal following fatal crash near Cramond Bridge

ROAD Policing officers are appealing for information after a fatal crash in Edinburgh.

Around 11.10pm last night – Monday, 2 February, 2026, Police received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on the A90 near the Kirkliston slip road at Cramond Bridge.

The car involved was a red Ford Fiesta.

Emergency services attended, but the pedestrian, a 36-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Sergeant Michael Thomson, of Road Policing East, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who died at this difficult time.

“I am appealing to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and witnessed the crash to come forward with information.

“I’d also ask that those with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything of significance.”

Newcraighall fatality: Police appeal for information

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Edinburgh.

Around 9am on Saturday, 1 June, 2024 officers were called to reports of a single vehicle crash on the A1 at the Newcraighall junction involving a silver Ford C-Max.

The driver of the car, John Fairgrieve, 75, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he later died.

John’s family have released the following statement via Police Scotland:

“While we’re grateful that no one else was injured in the incident, we’re deeply saddened by the loss of a much loved husband, father and grandfather.

“We would like to give our thanks to all the emergency services for the care and support they provided and also to those that stopped to help at the scene.”

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

Road Policing Sergeant Louise Birrell said: “Our thoughts remain with John’s family and friends as they continue to try to come to terms with what has happened. We’ll support them and keep them updated as our investigation progresses.

“We would like to thank the members of public who stopped at the time to help Mr Fairgrieve and those who have come forward with information so far.

“We’re keen to speak to anyone else who saw what happened or has dashcam footage from the area around the time.”

Fatal crash on Clifton Terrace: Man Charged

A 34-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal road crash involving a bus and a pedestrian in Edinburgh.

The incident took place on Clifton Terrace, on Saturday, 4 February, 2023.

The pedestrian, a 79-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 34-year-old man will appear at court at a later date.

Appeal after pedestrian dies on Edinburgh City Bypass

A pedestrian has died following a collision involving a car on the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass yesterday.

The incident happened around 5.10am on Saturday, 3 September eastbound near the Straiton junction.

The 25-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 39-year-old male driver of the BMW 3 Series car involved was uninjured.

The road was closed until around 12.40pm to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Barry Sommerville of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friend at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would ask anyone with information which could help to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage which could help our investigation.
