Adult learning classes at Craigroyston

Happy New Year!

Our adult learning classes begin next week and we still have spaces available for some courses. Please spread the word! Starting from Monday 23 January for an 8 week term. 

We also have  FREE WalkingTuesday mornings 10.15-11.15am free walkers group to encourage people to become more active. They will be gentle walks building up into longer sessions. These start from Tuesday 24th January. Just come to the school for 10am.  Wear waterproofs and good waterproof shoes and bring a bottle of water.

Plus a drawing class on Monday afternoons, Scottish History through Novels on a Wednesday afternoon and Mindfulness on Thursday afternoons and a New year, New You class on Saturday mornings to help make 2017 your best year ever!

Courses cost £48 for the 8 weeks (£24 for senior citizens and £15 for people receiving concessions)

Cash for schools to close attainment gap

More than a hundred secondary schools will receive up to £11.5 million for projects to close the attainment gap, Deputy First Minister John Swinney confirmed yesterday. In Edinburgh Castlebrae Community High School, Wester Hailes Education Centre, Holyrood High School and Craigroyston Community High School will benefit from the funding.  Continue reading Cash for schools to close attainment gap

Craigroyston: back in the swim!

Friday morning swimming is back at Craigroyston Community High School!

Friday mornings from now on we will have a ladies only / mums and toddlers from 10.30-11.30am and a mixed adult swim 11.30am-12.30pm.

Ladies can come anytime from 10.30am and stay until 12.30pm, men from 11.30am only.

Katie Tuff will be the lifeguard (except for the 30th September).

Hope you can come along – same super duper rate and super duper facilities!

A free helpline offering advice, information and support for young people and their parents has opened, ahead of today’s SQA results. Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has a free helpline which will be open from 8am to 8pm today and tomorrow and then from 9am to 5pm until 17 August. Saving community space at Craigroyston: complete the survey

Craigroyston Community Centre’s management committee, which oversees the adult community wing at Craigroyston Community High School, has sent out an unofficial audit (see below) to raise awareness of the cuts in community service provision in Craigroyston High School.

Roost Exhibition opens tomorrow

Roost is part of an artists residency, Arcadeum, linked to the North West Edinburgh Partnership Centre. This £12 million Centre, being built in Muirhouse, is a joint development between NHS Lothian and the City of Edinburgh Council, bringing increased health and social care services for the local community, including new GP accommodation and additional physiotherapy, podiatry, dentistry and child health services.

Arcadeum is based in the ‘satellite’ space in the shopping mall next to NEA. Artists Lindsay Perth and Hans Clausen have been leading the Arcadeum programme over the last 12 months.
