Health Project launches Hungry for Change report

Pilton Community Health Project has launched its new report, ‘Hungry for Change’. The report, the result of conversations with local people experiencing food insecurity, was launched at the Old Kirk and Muirhouse Parish Church yesterday. PCHP want the report to be a catalyst for action to alleviate food insecurity for North Edinburgh residents and to tackle the root causes of poverty. Police are continuing their enquiries following Saturday’s hit and run incident on Ferry Road in which a ten year old boy was seriously injured. August round of Neighbourhood Partnership meetings
Neighbourhood Partnership meetings are taking place in August
With the ongoing rollout of new Localities community planning structures across the city, the future of Neighbourhood Partnerships has been in some doubt but they are back for now – at least until a suitable replacement can be agreed.
Neighbourhood Partnership meetings are open to the public, so take the opportunity to hear discussions and decisions about Local Community Grant Fund applications, North West Locality Improvement Planning, participate in the popular ‘question time’ session and more.
There are four Neighbourhood Partnerships within the new North West Locality and each of these will meet in August. Dates are:
Forth Neighbourhood Partnership
Tuesday 15 August at Royston Wardieburn Community Centre, 6.30-8.30pm
Inverleith Neighbourhood Partnership
Monday 21 August at Stockbridge Library, 6.30-8.30pm.
Almond Neighbourhood Partnership
Wed 23 August at Rosebery Hall, South Queensferry, 6.30-8.30pm.
Western Neighbourhood Partnership
Thursday 31 August Drumbrae Hub, 6.30-8.30pm.

Stronger North: crackdown on crime in North Edinburgh
Police have been conducting Stronger North activity in the North Edinburgh area over the past week. Officers have made 42 arrests and executed seven misuse of drugs warrants since last Monday. Over the last week £9000 worth of drugs have been recovered in the area, along with seven stolen motorcycles and one stolen car. Seventeen vehicles have also been seized for having invalid insurance. Good sports: medals all round at Spartans mini-Olympics
More than 200 local primary school children took part in a 14-sport ‘Mini-Olympics’ at Spartans Community Football Academy’s Ainslie Park home yesterday. The pupils aged 10-12 enjoyed rugby, cycling, athletics, football, and relay races as part of a programme to help introduce young people to sport and the psychological and physiological benefits it brings.
