North West Edinburgh Physical Activity Alliance Launch

Physical activity can contribute massively to good physical and mental health for everyone, no matter their age or circumstances and physical activity is about so much more than playing sports or going to the gym.

No single organisation can be solely responsible for promoting physical activity and to enable us to develop opportunities effectively we need to adopt a broad based, community connected, partnership approach.

August round of Neighbourhood Partnership meetings

Neighbourhood Partnership meetings are taking place in August

With the ongoing rollout of new Localities community planning structures across the city, the future of Neighbourhood Partnerships has been in some doubt but they are back for now – at least until a suitable replacement can be agreed.

Neighbourhood Partnership meetings are open to the public, so take the opportunity to hear discussions and decisions about Local Community Grant Fund applications, North West Locality Improvement Planning, participate in the popular ‘question time’ session and more.

There are four Neighbourhood Partnerships within the new North West Locality and each of these will meet in August. Dates are:

Forth Neighbourhood Partnership

Tuesday 15 August at Royston Wardieburn Community Centre, 6.30-8.30pm

Inverleith Neighbourhood Partnership

Monday 21 August at Stockbridge Library, 6.30-8.30pm.

Almond Neighbourhood Partnership

Wed 23 August at Rosebery Hall, South Queensferry, 6.30-8.30pm.

Western Neighbourhood Partnership

Thursday 31 August Drumbrae Hub, 6.30-8.30pm.

Three arrested after warrants executed

Police officers executed three warrants across North Edinburgh during searches for stolen property yesterday.

Three males, aged 15, 18 and 19-year-old were arrested in connection with house-breakings which took place over the past week in Kirkliston, Pathhead, Penicuik and Musselburgh.

Property including jewellery and electrical goods was recovered at addresses in Clermiston Park, Colonsay View and Granton Mill March.

These latest arrests are a result of the renewed commitment by officers under Operation Soteria and the Stronger North 2017 initiative to gather intelligence and tackle housebreaking, vehicle theft and related disorder in the North West of Edinburgh.

Chief Inspector Jimmy Jones, North West Area Commander said: “Our communities have told us that anti-social behaviour and youth disorder is a priority and we have renewed our commitment to tackling it in North West Edinburgh.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their assistance so far. Support from our communities is vital in tackling such offences and I can assure them we will act on the information we receive.

“Anyone with concerns can speak to a local officer, contact Police Scotland on 101 or report information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
