Last lap for Meadowbank as December closure confirmed

After a run of almost 50 years, Meadowbank Stadium will shut its doors on 3rd December, the city council has confirmed. The closure of the flagship venue, which was built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games, will mark the start of major redevelopment plans to create a new state-of-the-art sports centre on the same site. London Tube attack: threat level raised to ‘Critical’

The national threat level has been raised to ‘Critical’ in the wake of Friday morning’s attack on the London Tube system, following an assessment by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC). St James Centre footbridge no more!

A footbridge across Leith Street is set to be removed this weekend as part of works to facilitate the delivery of the Edinburgh St James development. The 118-tonne, 15m tall bridge, which linked the former St James Centre with a carpark at Greenside Place, will be dismantled over Friday night by Laing O’Rourke and DSM Demolition Ltd.
