Police seek witnesses to assault and robbery in Wester Drylaw

POLIVE officers in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following an assault and robbery incident which happened in Drylaw.

Shortly before 11am on Wednesday (21 February), a 20-year-old man was walking on the footpath between Silverknowes Neuk and Wester Drylaw Drive when he was approached from behind by three men.

They assaulted him and stole a number of personal items, including a designer jacket and mobile phone.

The victim went to hospital for treatment to facial injuries.

Detective Constable William Doughty from Corstorphine CID said: “This area and footpath network is frequented by locals regularly and I’d ask anyone who saw what happened to come forward and speak with officers.

“The victim left the area following the incident towards Wester Drylaw Place and the suspects are believed to have been on foot.

“Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland via 101 and quote incident number 1074 of 21 February 2024. An anonymous report can be given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Appeal for information following Edinburgh housebreaking

POLICE are appealing for information after jewellery and war medals were stolen in a housebreaking in Edinburgh.

Between 10pm and midnight on Saturday, 17 September, 2022, three people, dressed in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas, forced entry to a house in Napier Road, Merchiston. They stole various items, including a safe which contained jewellery and war medals.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are reviewing any relevant CCTV from the surrounding area for any additional information on the suspects.

Enquiries carried out so far have established the suspects broke into the rear of the property and left by the front door, getting into a dark coloured car, which drove off towards Colinton Road.

Detective Constable Scott Lynas said: “The medals and jewellery are of great sentimental value and family members are shocked and upset that the items have been stolen.

“I am appealing to anyone who has any information to get in touch. I would also ask people to contact us if they become aware of anyone trying to sell or pass on items of jewellery or medals.

“No matter how insignificant your information may seem to you, please do pass it on, your information could be the link that helps us identify the suspects and enable us to return the items to their rightful owners.”

Three sought following attempted robbery in Claremont Court

Detectives in Edinburgh are appealing for information following the attempted robbery of a man and woman in the Claremont area. The incident took place around 10.50pm on Tuesday (28th September) in a property at Claremont Court.

The victims, a couple in their 60s, were approached and threatened by three males, who arrived and left Claremont Court on a motorcycle.

The suspects are described as follows:

Suspect 1
Male, Asian appearance, with Scottish accent, around 6ft tall, of medium build and clean shaven. He was wearing dark clothing and possibly wearing a hat.

Suspect 2
Male, described as either Asian or African appearance, with a Scottish accent, around 5’10, of medium build and possibly clean shaven. He was wearing dark clothing and possibly a hat.

Suspect 3
Male around 6ft tall, of medium build. He was wearing a dark coloured motor cycle helmet, dark coloured clothing and dark coloured gloves.

Detective Sergeant Oliver Healy, from Edinburgh CID, said: “It is thankful that the victims were not injured as a result of this incident, however they were left badly shaken.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the Claremont Court, Claremont Street, Broughton Road or Logie Green Road areas on the evening of 28th September, and believes they may have seen the suspects in question to please come forward. We are also keen to speak with any motorists with potential dash cam footage from the area at that time.

Witness appeal following Roseburn assault and robbery

Police are appealing for information following an assault and robbery in Roseburn.

The incident happened at round 8pm last night (Wednesday 18 November), when a 15-year-old male youth was assaulted and robbed outside a supermarket on Roseburn Terrace.

A black Nike bag with various personal items was stolen and the boy was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children for treatment of minor injuries.

The suspects are described as three white men aged between 17 and 18-years-old and were all wearing face masks.

The first suspect was wearing a light coloured tracksuit with a black fur lined jacket and all black trainers.

Suspects two and three are described as wearing black hoodies, bottoms and trainers.

It is also reported that one of the men involved may have spoken with a scouse or Liverpudlian accent.

Detective Sergeant Rory Legge, of Edinburgh CID, said: “The boy involved has thankfully only sustained minor injuries but has been left evidently shaken by what has happened.

“The incident took place near a busy supermarket and we are asking members of the public to come forward with any information they may have.

“If you were in the area at the time and have any dashcam or mobile phone footage that could assist with our investigation I would urge you to contact police. I would also ask if you find a black Nike rucksack that you speak to officers.
