Tesco accident victim named

A pedestrian who died in a crash in the Corstorphine area has been named as Bill Hepburn, aged 66, from Edinburgh.

His family has asked for privacy and released the following statement:

“Our family are heartbroken at the loss of Bill who was a loving husband and father.”

The incident happened around 9am on Wednesday, 18 February, in a supermarket car park off Meadow Road Place and involved a blue Volkswagen Polo.

Sergeant Paul Ewing said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Bill and enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.

“Anyone who has not spoken to us and has any information that could help is asked to get in touch with road policing officers via 101, quoting incident number 0688 of Wednesday, 18 February, 2026.”

Annandale St. crash pensioner dies

POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION

An 81-year-old man has died following a crash on Annandale Street in Edinburgh at the junction with Haddington Place. The incident happened on Sunday, 28 September, around 1.20am, and involved the man and a bus.

He was taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service where he died on Saturday, 4 October. No one else was injured.

Sergeant Louise Birrell said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and they have asked for privacy.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone with information that could help who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.”

Clifton Terrace assault: Police release CCTV image

Police have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation into a serious assault in Edinburgh that took place on Clifton Terrace around 12am on Sunday, 2 February 2025.

The man in the image is described as white, in his late 20s to mid-30s and of slim build. He was wearing a dark blue jacket, black jogging bottoms, white trainers, a black Adidas rucksack and a dark coloured baseball cap.

Detective Sergeant Mark Asquith said: “We would encourage this man, anyone who may recognise him, or anyone with information about this incident to get in touch.”

Appeal after two cars deliberately set alight in Edinburgh

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two vehicles were deliberately set on fire in Pitcairn Grove, Greenbank.

Officers and emergency services attended the area at around 7.45pm last night (Thursday, 8 May, 2025) and extinguished the flames. There were no reports of any injuries and no one was within the vehicles at the time.

Three suspects dressed in dark-coloured clothing are reported to have left the area in a black hatchback vehicle along Greenbank Drive.

Detective Superintendent Paul Grainger said: “This was a reckless act which has resulted in significant fire damage to the vehicles. We believe this was a targeted attack and it is fortunate that no one was injured.

“I am directly appealing to a dog walker who was in the area at the time and may have seen the suspects leaving the area. If this was you, or you can help us trace this person, please get in touch with officers.

“Equally anyone with any information that can assist our inquiries should contact police as soon as possible.”

Man remanded following offences in Holyrood Park

POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION

LAST Friday 18th April 2025, officers from Police Scotland charged an individual with a number of offences, including sexual exposure.

He appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Saturday 19th April 2025 and was remanded in custody.

These offences occurred around the area of Holyrood Park, Edinburgh between the 11th and 17th April.
