Community groups encouraged to Grow Stories as part of local campaign
Scotland’s Local Storytelling Campaign “Growing Stories” is underway and is running to Friday 30 November.
The Local Storytelling Campaign is a creative outreach initiative that bookends and runs alongside the Scottish International Storytelling Festival (SISF); an annual celebration of live storytelling & cultural diversity that takes place each year at the end of October, organised by Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland (TRACS). Women Supporting Women is running a free, 6-week Storytelling and Creative Writing course at Pilton Community Health Project. Pupils at Craigroyston Primary School celebrated their creative skills by hosting an Arts Festival last night. Visitors enjoyed the huge variety of artwork created by pupils over the year and were entertained with music and storytelling performances. Polar Bears at Potterrow!
Fiona Manson (left) and Eilidh MacAskill (right), are performing in the relaxed performances of The Polar Bears Go Up at The Studio, 22 Potterrow this week for pupils of Edinburgh’s special schools. The show about two intrepid polar bears and their journey into space is touring to Cumnock, Stirling and Greenock in February.

Forthview up for reading challenge
Children embrace love of books
More than 1,000 schools across Scotland have signed up to an initiative to get children reading for pleasure. Backed by the Scottish Book Trust, the First Minister’s Reading Challenge, which encourages youngsters to enjoy books, has so far been rolled out in 1,277 primary schools. Among them is Forthview Primary, and Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop visited the school yesterday to join the children for a reading session. Continue reading Forthview up for reading challenge
