Police appeal for information following Chesser road accident

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a crash in Edinburgh in the early hours of this morning.

Around 12.21am (Saturday, 11, April, 2026) police received a report of a crash involving a blue MG HS and a 49-year-old male pedestrian on Chesser Avenue.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to hospital having sustained life-threatening injuries.

The 35-year-old female driver was not injured.

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision to contact us, especially those who may have dash cam footage that could assist with our enquiries.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0074 of 11 April, 2026.”

Pedestrian injured in Liberton Road hit and run

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Edinburgh.

Around 12.55pm on Wednesday, 22 October, a blue Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop for officers on Newington Road. A short pursuit took place before the car struck a pedestrian at the junction of Liberton Road and Gilmerton Road.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued south on Gilmerton Road and was later found abandoned a short distance away on Glenallan Drive.

The pedestrian, a 47-year-old man, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries.

Sergeant Grant Hastie said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and trace those responsible.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or saw a blue Vauxhall Corsa in the area beforehand or afterwards, to come forward.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone with dash-cam or private CCTV footage that may assist our investigation.”

Groathill accident: Can you help?

Road Policing officers are appealing for information after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash on South Groathill Avenue at Queensferry Road South.

The incident, which happened around 7.10am on Wednesday, 17 April, 2024, involved a red and white DAF truck and a pedestrian.

Emergency services attended and a 58-year-old woman, the pedestrian, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Her condition has been described as critical but stable.

The road was closed for around two hours to allow for investigations to take place.

Sergeant Louise Birrell said: “Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and we would like to ask anyone that was in the area at the time who has not already spoken to us to please get in touch.

“We would also be keen to see any dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area around the time of the crash. In particular, there was a blue BMW X2 which was stationary at the time and may have information which could assist.”

Witness appeal following Sheriffhall accident

Road policing officers are appealing for witnesses after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Edinburgh.

The incident happened around 9am yesterday (Thursday, 4 August, 2022) on Millerhill Road, near the Sheriffhall Roundabout.

The pedestrian, a 37-year-old man, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.

The road was closed for around four hours while investigations were carried out.
