Mapping Physical Activity in Edinburgh

Mapping Physical Activity in Edinburgh

We want to identify as many physical activity facilities & opportunities as possible all across Edinburgh and put them all on a clever online map and we need your help.

How can you help? That’s easy. If you know about a group, club, activity, facility, etc. you think we should add to our map go to our online ‘SurveyMonkey’ page here and fill in our short questionnaire, it should only take about 5 minutes.

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/7V8V2WN

We’d be grateful if you would also pass this on to as many people as possible who might be able to help.

We don’t have a definitive deadline but if you could complete the 5 minute survey as soon as possible it would really help. We’re hoping to as much info as possible processed by the end of August.

Many Thanks

John Brennan

(On behalf of the planning groups behind the Edinburgh Locality Physical Activity Alliances)

If you would like to find out more about the physical activity mapping project or anything else about the physical activity alliances in Edinburgh please get in touch.  There is also a portion of the survey where you can leave your details if you wish.

North West Edinburgh Physical Activity Alliance Launch

Wednesday 18 July, 9.30 – 12.30

Physical activity can contribute massively to good physical and mental health for everyone, no matter their age or circumstances and physical activity is about so much more than playing sports or going to the gym.

No single organisation can be solely responsible for promoting physical activity and to enable us to develop opportunities effectively we need to adopt a broad based, community connected, partnership approach.

The launch event will take place at: Wed 18th July, 09:30am-12:30pm, North Edinburgh Arts Centre, 15A Pennywell Court EH4 4TZ, wE

Come along to find out what’s going on in your area to promote physical activity; tell people what you’re up to- put your service on the map; join the network and help make things happen

To book a place, please contact Ellie Eaton by email: eleanor.eaton@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk or phone 0131 537 9351.

Your opportunity to influence Locality Improvement Plans

There are two more chances to help shape North West Edinburgh’s Locality Improvement Plan this week at community consultation events:

This evening at The Prentice Centre there’s a session on ‘North Edinburgh small area’ – that’s Muirhouse, West Pilton, Granton, Royston Wardieburn and Wester Drylaw to you and me, so it’s no’ that small! These traditional working class communities face a number of poverty-related challenges and tonight’s session will look at the draft action plan drawn up to tackle issues in ‘Greater Pilton’. Are the priorities right? Can the plan be improved? What’s missing?

Have your say tonight at The Prentice Centre, Granton Mains Avenue. The session runs from 5.30 – 8pm.
