Easter at Le Petit Beefbar

Executive Chef Matthew Parker and Head Chef Jakub Konrad have worked alongside Beefbar’s Group Executive Chef Thierry Paludetto and Riccardo Giraudi on a menu that combines the best parts of a classic Sunday roast with the elegance, luxury, and indulgence of Le Petit Beefbar.

For those who wish to indulge in dessert, classic Le Petit Beefbar favourites will be available includingFrench toastwith caramelised brioche, yoghurt ice cream and a generous serving of salted caramel sauce and gelato mentacato al minuto, fior di latte gelato and a selection of sauces and toppings. 

Throughout the course of December and beyond, Le Petit Beefbar will play host to a roster of locally renowned jazz musicians who  will take to the stage, entertaining  and captivating guests, accompanying their Sunday roast in style.  

Douglas Whates and Euan Stevenson will kick off the month on 3rd December , setting the perfect ambience, elevating guests dining experience and creating the ultimate Sunday setting backdrop.

Lorna Reid will be serenading  diners on December 10th, accompanied by Campbell Normand on the keys. Saxaphonist Konrad Wiszniewski will captivate guests on 17th December, one of Scotland’s most celebrated Jazz musicians who has most notably performed for Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. 

Konrad has performed all over the world, recorded and toured with artists, such as pop producer Labrinth and Curtis Stigers to name a few, serving up an international sound to the Sunday Jazz lunch offering.

Edinburgh dancers fly the flag for Scotland at Dance World Cup

Performers unveil new kit ahead of international competition

A group of polished performers from Edinburgh Dance Academy (EDA) will represent Team Scotland at the Dance World Cup which kicks off in Portugal this week.

The award-winning dance school, founded by its Principal Julie Mitchell, is bringing a team of 72 pupils to the event, the largest contingent from Scotland.

The team will be among 7500 dancers from all parts of the globe taking part in the week-long competition being staged in Braga from 30 June – 8 July.

The EDA delegation will be comprised of dancers from its Performance Group, aged between seven and 18.

The performers will take part in the Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Show and Commercial sections with EDA teacher Hannah Boyle also competing for Scotland in the Over-18 section performing a solo dance.

In total, the group will take part in over 100 acts where they hope to emulate the school’s gold medal-winning success when it last travelled abroad to compete at the 2018 Dance World Cup in Spain. 

The dances have been choreographed by Hannah Boyle, Megan Ireland, Millie Thomas, Ellen West and Jenni Inglis, who was named the UK’s most inspirational choreographer at the British Isles competition held earlier this year in Blackpool.

Some of the EDA competitors taking part in the Dance World Cup took a break from rehearsals today to unveil their new Scotland track suits which the team will proudly wear at this summer’s event. 

College Big Band to perform at Festival Theatre

The Edinburgh College Big Band will demonstrate the talents of music performance students in a showcase at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre next month.

The Edinburgh College Big Band showcases the next generation of musical talent at the college, and will present a new programme of big band favourites on 4 February, from Sammy Nestico to Bob Mintzer.

The Edinburgh College Big Band comprises some of the best music students currently studying at Edinburgh College. It is only open to students studying music performance as the level and demands on band members are exceptionally high. The band is led by two of the college’s music lecturers, saxophonist Allan Glen and guitarist Robin Robertson.

Allan Glen said: “It’s a real privilege to work with each and every one of the students in the big band. The music is difficult and the rehearsal schedule demanding but every member always rises to the challenge and, most importantly, they enjoy it.

“Performance is at the heart of a student’s musical education and having the opportunity to present a new programme of music at a venue such as The Studio is a great thrill not only for the members of the band but also for myself and Robin.”

The band has performed in numerous venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow, including the prestigious Queen’s Hall.

The showcase will take place on 4 February at 7.30pm in The Studio at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre. Tickets are £15 for adults, £12 for concessions.

Let the good times roll! Jazz and Blues Festival kicks off tomorrow

jazzEdinburgh’s annual Jazz and Blues Festival kicks off tomorrow and promises ten terrific days and nights of top class jazz.

There’s something for all tastes and big names performing at this year’s event include the ever-popular Jools Holland with his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra (Mel C guesting), Scotland’s Queen of the Blues Maggie Bell and Grammy-nominated trumpeter Christian Scott.

With over 140 concerts to choose from you really are spoilt for choice and Brian Fallon, who chairs the Jazz & Blues Festival, is particularly excited about this year’s programme. He said: ““This is a very exciting year for the Festival. We’re delighted to be bringing to Scotland some of the world’s finest jazz and blues talent and some of our biggest names to date. Our programme has been carefully selected to appeal to a wide range of musical tastes, and we look forward to welcoming friends, old and new. Come along and join in the fun!”
