Developers of the £500 million Edinburgh Marina at Granton say the project will create much-needed social housing and will provide 400 jobs in the first phase alone, but local people expressed concerns at a public meeting organised by community councils this week. Friends of Granton Castle Walled Garden AGM report

Dear Friends Group members and supporters, 

Following our AGM on the 5th May we have a streamlined steering group of eight to take us into our second year at the walled garden with a newly elected chair and one new committee member to go forward in 2018. A massive thank-you to all those who have contributed time and energy over the last year, and even before this too when we began back in 2013 in earnest trying to raise awareness and safeguard this forgotten garden.

Waterfront: all systems go

The City of Edinburgh Council has bought the former National Grid site on Granton’s waterfront after an agreement was reached with National Grid on Tuesday. Development of the site is critical to the Council’s plans to deliver a vibrant city quarter and accelerate the delivery of new homes for people on low and middle incomes, and the deal has been welcomed by local MSPs.  Continue reading Waterfront: all systems go
