We’ve had a GREAT first month of trading at our new Furniture Centre at Bonnington, with lots of pre-loved furniture heading off to a new life in a new home!
For the next month or so, the furniture centre will be closed on Mondays, to allow us to accommodate staff holidays, and sort through the fantastic donations we have waiting in the wings!
The opening hours will be reassessed in September, but until then, the centre will be open 6 days from 10-5 (11-5 on Sundays)!

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), Mansfield Traquair Centre’s primary tenant for many years, has formally given notice and will be vacating the building.
The Mansfield Traquair Trust is now welcoming expressions of interest from organisations that would value and complement the unique cultural and architectural character of this iconic heritage site, home to the celebrated murals of Phoebe Anna Traquair, often called ‘Edinburgh’s Sistine Chapel.’
During this transition, event operations will continue as normal. The Trust has an existing partnership with Heritage Portfolio, the venue’s longstanding catering and events provider, which remains in place to support planned and future events.
With a track record of delivering exceptional hospitality across landmark Scottish venues including the Signet Library, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery among others, Heritage Portfolio brings continuity, experience and reassurance during this period of change.

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Edinburgh.
Around 1.20pm on Tuesday, 20 May, 2025, a 76-year-old man was walking on Broughton Road near to Tesco when he was approached by a man and assaulted.
The man did not require hospital treatment.
The suspect is described as being between 60 and 75 years of age, around 5ft 10in in height, of slim build and bald. He was wearing light coloured clothing and has a distinctive crouched walk.
Constable Nina Zielke said: “The area was busy at the time and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam footage to contact us.”

Police have released an image of a 28-year-old man reported missing from Edinburgh, and ask for the help of the public in tracing him.
Kyle Spence was last seen around 6pm on Thursday, 6 March, in the Broughton area.
He is described as around 5ft 10ins, with spiked brown/blonde hair and blue eyes. When last seen he was wearing a black slim-fitting tracksuit with grey speckles and a large grey stripe down the sleeves and black Nike trainers with three air bubbles on the soles. He was carrying four bags and is believed to have access to other clothing.
Inspector Steven Piercy, Gayfield Police Station, said: “We want to trace Kyle Spence as quickly as possible and I would ask anyone with any information to please contact Police Scotland.
“I would ask the public not to approach Mr Spence if you do believe you have seen him and instead call Police Scotland as soon as possible.
“I am also appealing directly to Mr Spence himself to get in touch with the police.”

Our Teacher vs Student football fundraiser will be happening on Wednesday the 19th of February, on the astroturf pitch from 3:30-4:30. We are raising money for a Red Cross appeal which donates towards the humanitarian crises in Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan and Ukraine.
You can either bring in a donation that will be collected in buckets on the pitches before the game, or donate on ParentPay, so please donate generously.

BROUGHTON High School library is looking to expand the selection of stock and we are looking for donations of good quality books; non-fiction texts for age 10+; David Walliams books, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, Roald Dahl, Dog Man, Captain Underpants, Tom Gates books, football books, books about dance, Horrible Histories/Maths/Science, etc and books suitable for dyslexic learners of all abilities.
