Police seek witnesses to road collision
Police Scotland is appealing for information following a collision involving a police vehicle and a motorcycle in Edinburgh. The incident happened around 1.40pm yesterday (Friday, 5 June) on Marionville Avenue.
The collision involved an off-road Kawasaki motorcycle and a marked Police Scotland BMW X5.
The 36-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries. Neither of the officers in the police vehicle were injured.
The road was closed to allow for an investigation at the scene.
Sergeant Stephen Quinn of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “We are working to establish the circumstances which led to this collision and would urge anyone who may have seen the incident or who has any other information to come forward.
“We would be keen to speak to other road users who were in the area at the time, particularly if they have dashcam footage.
“Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1726 of 5 June.”
Witness appeal following collision on Nicholson Street
Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was involved in a collision with a car on Nichoson Street.
The incident happened around 5.30pm on Friday (13 March). The cyclist was turning right from Nicholson Street onto West Nicholson Street and was involved in a collision with a black, medium sized car approaching from Clerk Street.
The cyclist fell to the ground and the 19-year-old man suffered a serious injury to his foot. He was wearing blue jeans, a black hooded top and a white helmet.
The driver stopped and spoke to the cyclist before leaving.
Constable Peter Scott, of the Road Policing Unit based at Fettes, said: “We’re appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or was in the area around that time and has dash cam footage to come forward.
“We’re also looking to speak to the driver so we’re appealing for him to contact us.”

Boy dies following motorcycle accident in Silverknowes
A 14-year-old boy has died after a collision between a car and a motorbike in Silverknowes. The boy, who has been named locally as Brad Williamson, was taken to the Sick Kids hospital on Friday evening but died this morning.
The motorcycle, a white Vertigo driven by the youth, was involved in a collision with a black Toyota Aygo on Silverknowes Road near to the junction with Silverknowes Court, at around 4pm on Friday. The boy and his passenger, also 14, were both taken to the Sick Kids hospital with serious injuries.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision and are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white limousine.
Sergeant Brian Smith, of Edinburgh’s Road Policing Unit, added: “This collision has resulted in death of a teenage boy and our condolences are with his family at this sad time.
“Our enquiries continue in order to establish the full circumstance surrounding this, and anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to get in touch.
“We’re particularly eager to trace the driver of a white Mercedes limousine-style car which was travelling north on Silverknowes Road at the time, as we believe they may be able to assist with our investigation.”

Police seek witnesses to Newhaven fatality
Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collision in Newhaven. The incident happened on Wednesday at around 1.15pm on Lindsay Road.
Harry Slade, an 81-year-old pedestrian, was involved in a collision with a Kia Picanto car and sustained serious injuries. Members of the public, including an off duty doctor, provided emergency first aid until the Scottish Ambulance Service arrived. Mr Slade was then taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he later passed away.
Road Policing Officers responded to the scene and closed the road for around four hours while they conducted their investigation.
Enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing and anyone who can assist police is asked to come forward.
Road Policing Sergeant, Ross Drummond said: “The driver of the Kia stopped immediately and has been helping officers with their enquiry into this incident.
“We are now keen to hear from other motorists or members of the public as we look to establish exactly what happened.
“Officers have managed to speak with a number of those who provided emergency assistance to Mr Slade, but we believe there may be others who witnessed the collision and would urge these individuals to contact police immediately.
“Mr Slade was wearing a distinctive maroon-coloured jacket and a tweed hat. If you remember seeing him around the time of the collision the please get in touch.”

Police seek witnesses to South Queensferry accident
Police are seeking witnesses to an accident that resulted in the death of of a bin lorry driver in South Queensferry on Saturday afternoon. The 58-year old man died after being crushed by his own truck when he tried to stop it rolling out of a car park.
The man, who has been named as Maurice Willis, was pinned against a wall by his lorry which then hit a parked car and mounted a pavement before ploughing through a fence and coming to a stop on Hawes Pier. He later died in hospital.
Police Scotland’s Sgt Brian Smith said: “This tragic accident happened as the driver tried to stop his lorry from rolling out of the car park of the Hawes Inn.
“He was crushed against the wall by the lorry, which then hit a parked Jaguar car before rolling across the road and mounting the pavement. demolishing a bench and fencing before it came to rest hanging over the edge of the pier.
“Although this is a busy road, with a number of pedestrians in the area at the time, fortunately no-one else was injured. We are carrying out a full investigation and I am appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to us, to call Police Scotland on 101.”
