Niddrie murder: man charged

A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of 30-year-old Liam Maloney in Niddrie.

Liam died on Saturday (7 May), after being seriously injured on Niddrie Marischal Road, around 8pm on Thursday, 5 May.

The 48-year-old man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Tuesday, 10 May, 2022).

Detective Inspector Scott Roxburgh, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: ““We’d like to thank the public for their assistance with this investigation.

“There will remain a police presence in the area over the coming days and we continue to appeal for anyone with further information to please come forward.

Stenhouse death: man charged

Police Scotland have confirmed that a 37-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a 45-year-old woman in Edinburgh.

Dawn Trusler’s body was found around 9.30am on Monday, 21 February, 2022 after officers were called to a property on Stenhouse Gardens North.

The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Wednesday, 23 February, 2022).

Silverknowes fire: man charged

A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fire raising incident in North Edinburgh.

The incident happened on Silverknowes Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning (8th February).

The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

Detective Sergeant Alan Sharp said: “We are grateful to everyone who assisted with our investigation into this incident.”

Spate of robberies: man charged

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of robberies at business premises in Edinburgh.

The man has been charged in connection with 13 incidents in various areas across the city between Friday, 27 August and Wednesday, 8 September.

He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Arthur’s Seat death: Man charged

Police have confirmed that a man has been charged in connection with the suspicious death of a woman in Holyrood Park.

Police and emergency services were called to Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park at around 9pm on Thursday, 2 September, 2021. A 31-year-old woman died at the scene a short time later and her death is being treated as suspicious.

She can be named as Fawziyah Javed from Pudsey, West Yorkshire.

A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has now been charged. He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 6 September, 2021.

Detective Inspector Bob Williamson said: “Fawziyah’s family ask for their privacy to be respected during this extremely difficult time.“I’d like to thank the officers and partners who attended the scene on Thursday evening and have assisted with our ongoing enquiries.”

Silverknowes fires: man charged

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of fire raising incidents in North Edinburgh.

He has been charged in connection with a number of fires in the Silverknowes area in the early hours of Wednesday, 27 January and he is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later today (Thursday, 28 January).
