Boy dies following motorcycle accident in Silverknowes
A 14-year-old boy has died after a collision between a car and a motorbike in Silverknowes. The boy, who has been named locally as Brad Williamson, was taken to the Sick Kids hospital on Friday evening but died this morning.
The motorcycle, a white Vertigo driven by the youth, was involved in a collision with a black Toyota Aygo on Silverknowes Road near to the junction with Silverknowes Court, at around 4pm on Friday. The boy and his passenger, also 14, were both taken to the Sick Kids hospital with serious injuries.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision and are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white limousine.
Sergeant Brian Smith, of Edinburgh’s Road Policing Unit, added: “This collision has resulted in death of a teenage boy and our condolences are with his family at this sad time.
“Our enquiries continue in order to establish the full circumstance surrounding this, and anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to get in touch.
“We’re particularly eager to trace the driver of a white Mercedes limousine-style car which was travelling north on Silverknowes Road at the time, as we believe they may be able to assist with our investigation.”

Boy knocked down on Groathill Road North
A five year old boy has been hit by a vehicle near Ferryhill Primary School on Groathill Road North.
The accident happened at around 2.45pm this afternoon. The boy was treated by medical staff at the scene before being transferred to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. His condition is not thought to be serious.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh attended a road traffic collision involving a five-year-old child outside Ferryhill Primary School this afternoon. The child was taken to the Sick Kids Hospital to be treated for a minor injury.”
A similar accident involving a child happened close to the same spot in 2012 and Easter Drylaw Residents Association has campaigned on the issue of local road safety for over three years.

Man dies in Ferry Road accident
A man has been killed after falling under a truck during a street altercation. Jaime Brynes, 36, died in hospital following the accident on Ferry Road in Leith yesterday morning.
Mr Brynes is believed to have fell into the road during a heated argument on the pavement. His death is being treated as non-suspicious, police said.
The section of road between North Fort Street and Newhaven Road was closed for several hours while the emergency services attended the scene and did not reopen until mid-afternoon.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh attended a road traffic collision involving a truck and 36-year-old Jaime Brynes on Ferry Road at around 9am.
“The Scottish Ambulance Service treated Mr Brynes at the scene but he later passed away at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. “His death is being treated as non-suspicious and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
Did you witness D Mains hit and run?
Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run incident in Davidson’s Mains last Sunday (30 November).
A thirteen-year-old boy was on a push-along scooter in Main Street at around 8.10pm when the collision occurred after the car mounted the pavement. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
The vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the incident and was last seen heading towards the Drylaw area, and anyone who can assist officers with their ongoing enquiry is asked to come forward.
The vehicle is described as a dark-coloured people carrier type similar to a Citroen C4 hatchback.
Inspector Chris Scobbie said: “Fortunately, the boy was not more seriously injured as a result of this incident, but he still required treatment at hospital. The driver failed to stop and we are conducting local enquiries to trace this individual.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision and who may have information relevant to this investigation. In addition, I would urge the driver to come forward as soon as possible.”
