Local community theatre group St Serf’s Players have won the Edinburgh round of the SCDA’s 2016 One Act Festival with their production of Erica & Me by Alan Robinson, directed by Philip Wilson.

The Edinburgh District round of the Scottish Community Drama Association’s one act play festival was held over three nights at the Church Hill Theatre this week, with six local companies taking part.

Leitheatre had three entries in the competition, and the Sunnyside-based group was rewarded with second and third prizes.

Under competition rules two teams from the same company cannot go forward to the next stage, however, so the Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group’s production of JB Priestley’s The Rose and Crown will join St Serf’s’ Erica and Me and Leitheatre’s Audience in the Eastern Divisional Final, which will be held at the Lochgelly Arts Centre over the three nights from 31 March.

The winners and runners up from the Divisional final will then go forward to the Scottish Final at Morningide’s Church Hill Theatre from April 21 – 23.
