Central Taxis to sponsor Spartans Connections

Taxi for Spartans! Edinburgh’s Central Taxis are to sponsor local community club Spartans Connections. The Connections squad are delighted with the sponsorship deal and the new partnership is a great result for the Ainslie Park footballers.

Fundraising isn’t easy, and Spartans Connections chief Garry Betts explained: “When we started off in the Pan Disability League our two teams had to depend on Dougie Samuel and his back room staff to kit us out. That was a fantastic Spartans Family thing to do. We played on and we discussed sponsorship ideas, eventually we managed to get kitted up thanks to Super Gav, our local Ice cream van owner and we got three kits made up for our two League teams and our upcoming Lions team who will be running out on Sunday in their brand new strips in their inaugural season – and good luck to Paul, Aron and his squad!

“A lot of tremendously hard work has gone into setting up our first Ladies team, and we’re particularly pleased to announce that our hard work off the field – especially our brilliant Facebook Connections stories – has paid dividends.

“That sponsorship was fantastic but it took a long time. Now the Ladies team won’t start their first competitive league until next season but thanks to our own brilliant back room staff we’ve now pulled off an amazing sponsorship deal with Edinburgh’s elite taxi cab service.

“Central Taxis has agreed to join us for the forthcoming season and to play a role in promoting us and like all good partnerships we will be promoting them too. Here’s to another long term partnership!”

Spartans Connections Head Coach Grant Cunningham said: “This is a major achievement and boost for Connections and to have such a well established company supporting us, it’s a tremendous development for us all. It’s says everything about our progress that one of Edinburgh’s well-known companies wants to work with us because they believe in and support our ethos and way we do things”.

Hayley Anderson, captain of Connections’ new women’s team, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Central Taxis for supporting our team and words can’t express how grateful the team are for their sponsorship.”

And a final word from the sponsor – Central Taxis Kevin Wood said: “Central Taxis are very proud to sponsor and support the fantastic work done by Spartans Connections”.
