Letters: Unfit for office

Dear Editor

The increasing number of statements made recently by Defence Minister Gavin Williamson (above) during tours both at home and abroad are extremely disturbing.

In one statement he calls for the establishment of more military bases around the world, in another he calls for increased support to back Ukranian forces in their dispute with Russia.

His latest statement – calling for an aircraft carrier to be sent to the Yellow Sea –  shows, in my opinion, he is quite unsuited to be in any position of government.

Achieve, Elevate and Inspire: Edinburgh women lead the way in national technology awards

The 2019 FDM everywoman in Technology Awards showcase the brightest talent in tech, from the UK and beyond

 

The finalists for the ninth annual FDM everywoman in Technology Awards, in association with The Tech She Can Charter, have just been announced. Taking place to celebrate International Women’s Day, the awards are a timely reminder that only 15% of people working in STEM roles in the UK are female and just 5% of leadership positions in the tech industry are held by women.*

Auld Alliance: FM calls for EU nationals to stay in Scotland

The Scottish Government will increase its efforts to encourage EU citizens to remain in Scotland, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will confirm in an address to the Assemblée Nationale, the lower house of the French Parliament, later today. Tomorrow: Quilting Bee at North Edinburgh Arts

Quilting Bees is a quilting group dedicated for mums-to-be. In weekly drop-in sessions, you’ll get a chance to explore, create and develop new skills, express your creativity, relax and get to know other members of the community while making beautiful patchwork quilt pieces.
