UK Advertised Salaries Grow In Every UK Region

  • UK average advertised salaries up– currently sitting at £33,646; up 3.5% year-on-year
  • Every region in the UK showed year-on-year salary growth
  • Total advertised vacancies at 1,104,236 – down 8.3% over six months
  • Graduate salaries stutter– advertised salaries declined 12.1% over 12 months to £21,400
  • Energy salaries light up – typical sector pay up 10.8% annually to £40,640.

Volunteer and help Scotland’s pets find loving new homes

The Scottish SPCA is appealing to kind hearted people in Edinburgh and the Lothians to volunteer and help raise funds for abused, abandoned and injured pets in Scotland. Scotland’s animal welfare charity is urging locals to get involved in its Rehoming Week, which runs from 7 – 13 May, by joining in with organised street collections and more. Home Secretary Amber Rudd will today set out a multi-million pound commitment to steering young people away from crime and tackling violent drug-dealing gangs through the government’s first Serious Violence Strategy. Prepare for more roads disruption: now it’s the A7

A major £1.5 million resurfacing project on one of Edinburgh’s major arterial routes will start next week. Scotland Week: Transatlantic sessions for MSPs

Scotland Week is being marked by the Scottish Parliament as a delegation visits New York, Québec City and Washington DC.

The delegation, led by the Presiding Officer, and comprising Johann Lamont MSP and Clare Haughey MSP, took part in the annual Tartan Day parade alongside Grand Marshall KT Tunstall – the first female Grand Marshall in the parade’s 20 year history. More school safety checks as further faults found

“We will be seeking answers from ESP as they have once again let down the parents and the Council over the condition of the school.” – City of Edinburgh Council Chief Executive Andrew Kerr

Following proactive inspections by the Council of recent repairs carried out by the Edinburgh Schools Partnership (ESP), further work is to be carried out immediately on Oxgangs Primary School. Faults have been identified on the roof and in the suspended ceilings of the school following the inspections last month.
