Duncan’s Pyrenean odyssey to raise funds for Poppyscotland
A former Special Forces soldier will head to the French Pyrenees next month to undertake a sponsored cycle to raise funds for Armed Forces charity Poppyscotland. Duncan Forbes, who was injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion while serving overseas in 2010, will take part in a week-long, 450-mile journey climbing 36,000 feet of hill and mountain, cycling from the Atlantic Coast to the Mediterranean through the challenging terrain of the Pyrenees. More children on antidepressants: Greens comment
Alison Johnstone MSP, Health & Children spokesperson for the Scottish Greens, has responded to figures showing four times as many children under 13 were prescribed antidepressants last year as just seven years ago. The figures, obtained by BBC Scotland, show that last year 252 children aged 12 and under were given antidepressants while in 2009/10 it was 57. Work gets under way in Saughton Park
