Please see below publicity advertising two information and discussion sessions being hosted by the Power to the People group this week.
The first session will take place tomorrow morning (Tuesday) at 10 in Royston/Wardieburn Community Centre and will focus on Scotland’s new powers and how they might be used to tackle poverty.
Robin McAlpine, Director of the Common Weal is the guest speaker. This session will be followed up by a Question Time event on social justice issues next Tuesday night (22 March) at 5.30 pm in Craigroyston High School. This is an opportunity for people to find out from the candidates to the Scottish Parliament elections where each of the Political Parties stand on tackling poverty, inequality and discrimination.
The second session this week will take place on Wednesday night (16 March) at 6pm in Royston/Wardieburn Community Centre and will look at Human Rights in Scotland and why they matter to each and everyone of us.
This session is the first in a series of workshops covering human rights issues and will focus on the Right to Asylum.
I have included a link to a short film about the humanitarian crisis in Europe produced in September last year. The issues raised in the film are even more pressing now as many European nations have closed their borders and are currently contemplating sending refugees back to the war torn countries which they have risked everything to escape from.
All sessions are free and everyone is welcome to attend.
