Holidays Are Coming! The magic of the holiday season is set to sparkle even brighter this year and to celebrate, the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour, will be parking today at Fort Kinnard, from 12pm to 8pm!

Under a canopy of twinkling lights and festive music, visitors will be able to enjoy fun, festive games, participate in a lucky dip with the chance to win exclusive Coca-Cola merchandise and experience a festive food truck that will serve up delicious seasonal tastes alongside an ice-cold Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, all whilst capturing that perfect seasonal selfie in front of the iconic red truck.

Bringing friends and family together to enjoy a magical moment of festive fun, the loved tour will this year support FareShare, the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste.

Promising to be bigger and better than ever before and set in a magical winter wonderland setting, for every person that attends the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour, the equivalent of a meal will be donated on their behalf. Coca-Cola aims to donate the equivalent of up to a total of 1 million meals* via FareShare this festive season.

FareShare works with the food industry to redistribute surplus food, which might otherwise go to waste, to a network of 8,000 charities and community groups across the UK. These groups include community centres, faith groups, homelessness shelters, refuges, and schools, all working hard to support people in need. Food is used to bring people together, strengthening communities and helping people access vital support services.

Kirsty Ford, Head of Fundraising at FareShare said: “We are so grateful to Coca-Cola for their continued support for FareShare.

“These invaluable donations help us get good-to-eat food to the people who need it rather than going to waste. Every day, the food we redistribute to a network of over 8,000 charities in every region helps to strengthen communities.

“Coca-Cola’s generous support for FareShare is instrumental in helping people affected by the cost-of-living crisis. This support means charities can unite more people through food to form connections and access essential support services. Thank you for helping FareShare make the food go further.”

This year, the Coca-Cola Truck Tour focuses on the ambition to make kindness travel. Echoing the wider Coca-Cola Christmas campaign message, “The World Needs More Santas”, the tour will encourage visitors from Gateshead to embrace their inner Santa and share an act of kindness with others during the festive season.

Florence Wheatley, Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola Great Britain Coca-Cola, said“Coca-Cola has and remains synonymous with Christmas, with many people eagerly awaiting the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour and Holidays Are Coming advert to create a little festive magic.

“This year, we’re delighted to continue our relationship with FareShare to support its mission to reduce hunger and surplus food waste. We hope that every person that attends the Truck Tour not only experiences the magic of Coca-Cola Christmas, but also supports FareShare, knowing that the equivalent of a meal has been donated on their behalf, acting as a little moment of kindness to ensure that thousands of people across the country enjoy a more meaningful Christmas.”

For those unable to visit the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck in person, from November, a promotion with Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Coca-Cola Original Taste will invite fans to scan on-pack QR codes for the chance to win Christmas shopping vouchers!

Aldi Scotland to sell Scottish-grown Nordmann Fir Christmas trees for less than £15

Aldi Scotland is set to sell the cheapest real Christmas trees this festive season, as it announces the return of its freshly cut Nordmann Fir trees, with prices starting from just £13.99.

The festive trees will be sprouting into stores from Thursday 21 November for medium trees, with large trees following on Sunday 24 November, offering customers a chance to get their hands on a fresh Christmas centrepiece as the countdown to Santa Claus ramps up.

Priced at £13.99 medium (5-6ft) or £19.99 large (6-7ft) trees, the hand-selected Nordmann Firs are available across Aldi’s 107 Scottish stores while stocks last.

Grown in the heart of Aberdeenshire by Lovania Nurseries, the Nordmann Fir trees are renowned for their glossy pines, strong branches and symmetrical shape, making them ideal for decorating with festive frills.

Sustainability is at the root of it all, with Lovania planting more than two trees for every tree harvested, ensuring these festive favourites are as environmentally friendly as they are beautiful.

Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director, Aldi Scotland, said: “Having proven a great hit in recent years, we’re excited to bring back our Scottish-grown Nordmann Fir Christmas trees this year and provide our customers with the cheapest real Christmas trees available.

“Christmas is an expensive time of year for families, so we’re proud to offer outstanding value on our products that allow our customers to get into the festive spirit without having to sacrifice on quality.”

Aldi recommends placing your tree in a bucket of water to keep it hydrated and letting the branches settle before decorating them with ornaments or baubles. It’s also best to keep trees away from radiators or any other heat source.

You can find your nearest Aldi here.

As part of its commitment to supporting customers this Christmas, Aldi Scotland is also assisting shoppers this year through its ‘Heidspace’ campaign, which offers handy tips and tricks on getting prepared for the festivities early, to ensure the day is as stress-free and merry as possible.

Heidspace assets are all available to download for free from Aldi Scotland’s Instagram and Facebook, with more being added throughout the season.

M&S Edinburgh colleague celebrates 50 golden Christmases

Susan Jack, a shining star at Marks & Spencer’s Princes Street store in Edinburgh is celebrating a half-century of holiday magic this year.

Sales Advisor for Jaeger and Womenswear at Marks & Spencer Princes Street, Susan is celebrating her 50th Christmas working for the high-street retailer and is particularly excited about this year’s range of sparkling dresses and skirts, perfect for any festive occasion.

Susan’s M&S career began just before Christmas in 1974 at the Princes Street store, just in time for the holiday rush in the ‘Ladies Fashions’ department.

With 50 years retail experience now under her belt, Susan has witnessed incredible innovations, from the evolution of tights to the affordability of cashmere and to the sparkle of the modern-day beauty counter, particularly at Christmas. She has always been fascinated by the changing trends in customer shopping habits.

From 1994 to 1999, Susan left the Princes Street store to join the opening team at the Gyle Shopping Centre. Remarked as one of Susan’s proudest moments, she thrived in training the new store team before returning to Princes Street as a Section Manager for Womenswear.

For Susan, the Christmas season is a magical time, she reflected: Christmas is always special, particularly watching customers come in for their Christmas food shop. It brings so much joy to the store.”

She fondly looks back on the annual ‘turkey trot’, a term the team has coined for when Edinburgh shoppers collected their turkey and cranberry sauce!

The Turkey ordering service was soon introduced in 1982 to enhance convenience for customers.

As for Susan’s favourite turkey, she reveals: “The British Oakham Turkey Breast Joint is my favourite, we get it every year as it carves like a dream!”.

Susan has cherished celebrating Christmas with her colleagues over the years. From being amongst the first to sample the Christmas range as soon as it’s released, to attending January Christmas parties (a retail tradition), she has seen it all.

Reflecting on her five decades working for the retailer, Susan Jack, says: “More than anything over the years, M&S has given me confidence; I was very shy when I started, but my time at M&S has taught me how to be outgoing, reassuring me in my skills.

“I’d like to thank all my colleagues for creating such an enjoyable working environment and M&S for all the opportunities I’ve had over the last 50 years. The friendships I have made over the past five decades are truly irreplaceable and will last a lifetime.

“Watching their children grow up and become parents themselves is something I am forever grateful for.”

Store Manager Jon Cameron added; “I am immensely proud of the incredible dedication and achievements Susan has made over the past 50 years. Her unwavering commitment, exceptional service, and the positive impact she has on both our team and customers are truly inspiring.

“We are honoured to celebrate this remarkable milestone and look forward to many more years working alongside Susan.”
