Police seek information following serious assault in Craigentinny

POLICE are appealing for information after a 17-year-old male was seriously assaulted in Edinburgh.

The incident happened around 11.20pm on Friday night (16 August, 2024), when he was attacked by two men with bladed weapons on Craigentinny Road, close to Christiemillar Avenue.

He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries.

The road was closed for a short time while enquiries were carried out.

The suspects are described as wearing black clothing and they ran from the scene onto Loaning Road.

Detective Inspector Dougal Begg said: “A young man suffered serious injuries and we need to trace those responsible as soon as possible.

“If you were in the Craigentinny Road area on Friday evening and saw or heard anything suspicious, or know who these men are, please contact us.”

Appeal following serious assault at TRNSMT festival

POLICE are appealing for information following a serious assault at TRNSMT festival on Glasgow Green.

The incident happened in front of the ferris wheel around 3.10pm on Saturday, 13 July, 2024.

A 16-year-old male suffered serious injuries and was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Officers are working to identify two males as part of the ongoing investigation.

The first male is described as being around 6ft in height, of slim build, aged around 19-20 years old, with a dark buzz cut hairstyle and a half sleeve tattoo on his right arm. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black bucket hat and Scotland saltire flag wrapped around him.

The second male is described as around 6ft 1in in height, of slim build, aged around 19-20 years old, with dark hair. He was wearing a light-coloured top. 

Detective Sergeant Stephen Greenshields of Shettleston CID said: “This incident has left the victim with serious injuries, and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify the males responsible.

“Numerous people will have witnessed this incident, and we would urge anyone with any information that could assist with our enquiries to come forward.

Witness appeal following Chambers Street assault

POLICE in Edinburgh are appealing for information following a serious assault. The incident happened in Chambers Street around 9pm last night (Saturday, 19 August, 2023).

A 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Officers are working to identify two males as part of the ongoing investigation.

The first male is described as being aged between 16 and 17 years old, 5ft 5ins tall, with buzz cut style, dark hair. He was wearing a black and grey tracksuit jumper and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The second male is described as white, between 17 and 18 years old, 5ft 7ins tall, with short blonde/ginger beard and dirty blonde curly hair. He was wearing a football top.

Detective Sergeant Steven Gray, of Gayfield CID, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about those involved to get in touch.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 3799 of 19 August, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Appeal for information following wilful fire raising in Craigleith

POLICE in Edinburgh are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set on fire in the Craigleith area.

The incident happened around 5.35pm on Monday, 13 February 2023, on Queensferry Road, close to the junction with South Groathill Avenue. A Volvo XC40 was significantly damaged. 

DC Fiona Murray said: “We are keen to speak to two men seen in the area at the time. “The first is described as late teens to early twenties, slim build, wearing dark jogging bottoms, a grey hooded jumper and dark coloured trainers. 

“The second is described as late teens to early twenties, slim build, wearing a dark coloured tracksuit and dark trainers.

“Officers have been carrying out enquiries and are keen to speak to anyone who may have been within the area at the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously before or after.

“The road was busy with traffic at the time and a passing dash cam footage may assist with our investigation.”

Princes Street assault: CCTV released

Police have released images of two males they believe may hold information that will assist their ongoing enquiries into an assault that occurred on Princes Street at around midnight on Wednesday 22nd December 2021.

The first male is described as mixed race, early 20s, around 5’11” in height and of slim build with a dark moustache and goatee. He was wearing a dark woollen hat, a black puffer jacket and dark trousers.

The second male is described as white, early 20s, about 5’9” in height and of slim build with short light brown hair. He was wearing a navy jumper and grey trousers.

The males or anyone who recognises them or who has any information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident 1904 of 22nd December 2021, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police seek two men following London Road collision with police vehicle

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information after a stolen car failed to stop when signalled to do so by officers.

The vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Paisley Avenue around 8.40am on Thursday (13 October 2022) was asked to stop by officers in Whitehill Road around 9.50am the same day.

The Grey VW Golf GTI was pursued and subsequently brought to a stop on London Road after a collision involving a marked police vehicle.

A 19-year-old man, the driver, has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday (Friday, 14 October 2022).

Two other men, passengers in the car, left the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace them:

Male 1 – white, late teens, skinny build and average height. He was wearing a black beanie hat with a black puffer style jacket and grey cotton type jogging bottoms and dark trainers.

Male 2 – white, late teens, average height and build, wearing all dark clothing

Detective Inspector George Calder said: “As part of our ongoing enquiries we are keen to speak to the passengers who were in this car. I am appealing to anyone who knows who they are or where they might be to get in touch.

“In addition, anyone with dash-cam or private CCTV that might show which direction they took after leaving the car in London Road is asked to speak with us.”
