Give and Take Day

North Edinburgh Timebank and the Women’s International Group are organising a big community swap day.
If you have clothes or toys you no longer need, bring them along and swap them for other ones.
Following the success of the Give and Take Day in the summer, we’re having another one! North Edinburgh Timebank’s Julie Smith said: “It’s a simple idea and really effective. It’s a way of local people supporting each other in a practical way. No-one has a lot of cash, this way we can all share things we have we don’t want, but might be of use to other folk.”
You turn up, hand over what you don’t want, get a ticket and you can exchange that for something you do want. Adult’s clothes, children’s clothes and toys – as long as they’re in good condition, bring them along.
There will be a bouncy castle, tombola stall and refreshments.

Like to have your say on the council’s spending priorities? Forth Neighbourhood Partnership’s next Business Meeting will be held in public and discussion will focus on the Council Budget for 2014/15. The meeting takes place next Tuesday (3 December) from 6 – 8pm at Royston Wardieburn Community Centre.

North Edinburgh Womens International Group have organised an important community event which focuses on changes to welfare benefits. With advice and information stalls and speakers from a range of local and nationwide agencies and organisations, this is your opportunity to find out more about changes to welfare, how you are affected – and what you can do about it.
The event takes place on Thursday (7 November) from 10am – 2pm at Royston Wardieburn Community Centre on Pilton Drive North.

Two free fun events are taking place in North Edinburgh today.
First up, Royston Wardieburn Community Centre in Pilton Drive North is holding a Fun Day from 11 – 2pm with lots of fun activities for all the family and an opportunity to see the fantastic facilities in the area’s newest community centre.
Then from 1 – 4pm MYadventure will launch Cyclone, Edinburgh’s newest mountain bike trail, at Gypsy Brae. Be among the first to come and try it out – there are prizes for age-specific races and lots of free fun side shows – a must attend event for mountain bikers and families alike!

Local community Police Constables Sarah Hall and Tony Lawrence will be at Royston Wardieburn Community Centre from 7 – 8pm next Thursday (6 June).

Help us make Forth a better place to live
Forth Neighbourhood Partnership would like to hear your views on what you think could improve your local area.
Neighbourhood Partnerships (NPs) are the City of Edinburgh Council ’s approach to delivering local community planning and they work to improve the quality of life in the area. The four councillors for the Forth Ward are all members of Forth NP along with City of Edinburgh Council , Lothian & Borders Police, Lothian NHS and local Community Councils.
The Partnership has recently been reviewing its work and we hope you can help shape our priorities by telling us what improvements you would like to see in your area. This can include planning issues, community safety, parks & green spaces, traffic issues or anything else you are concerned about.
We also want your suggestions for small to medium scale environmental improvement projects for funding through our Neighbourhood Environment Programme (NEP).

How do Neighbourhood Partnerships Work?
They can:
•Bring decision making closer to the community
•Provide opportunities for communities to express their views
•Set out the priorities to improve quality of life in the communities
•Make recommendations to the Council and other partner organisations about the way services may be delivered in the local area
•Comment on strategic decisions that affect the local area
•Award small grants to community groups for local projects that can make a difference in the local area.
