CCTV appeal following attempted robbery in Dalry

Police have issued CCTV images of a man they wish to trace in connection with an attempted robbery which occurred in the Dalry area in April.

The incident happened on Orwell Terrace at around 9.35pm on Wednesday, 1 April 2020.

A 25-year-old man was on Orwell Terrace, when he was assaulted by an unknown man who then attempted to rob him.

It is believed the man pictured may be able to assist the investigation.

Detective Constable Peter Lyons from Corstorphine CID said: “The victim was understandably very shaken as a result of this attack.

“We are appealing for anyone who can help identify this male as he may be able to assist the officers with their enquiries.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3529 of 1st April 2020, or make an anonymous report through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Police appeal following Shandon robbery

Police in Edinburgh have released CCTV images of a man that officers believe may be able to assist them with enquiries into robbery at a shop in the city.

The incident happened at premises on Shandon’s Ashley Terrace around 7pm on Tuesday, 23 June, 2020 and a three figure sum of cash was stolen.

Officers believe that the man shown in the image may have information that will assist with their investigation and would appeal to any members of the public who recognise him to come forward.

The man is described as black, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, of a medium build and around 5ft 10ins tall. He is shown in the image wearing a dark grey suit jacket, a black hooded top, black trousers and black leather shoes.

Detective Constable Zaira Marker of Corstorphine CID said: “Nobody was injured but this was a frightening experience for staff and customers alike. Our enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to identify the man in the images to come forward.

Man jailed for Saughton robbery

A 41-year-old man has been sentenced after he was convicted of assault and robbery at a Saughton convenience store.

On Thursday (28 May) Terrence Tant was sentenced to four years in prison after he targeted One Stop Shop on Saughton Mains Gardens on Friday, 27 December, 2019.

During this incident one of the shopkeepers was assaulted and sustained a serious hand injury and a three-figure sum of cash was stolen.

Detective Constable Sam Gillies, of Edinburgh CID, said: “We welcome the sentencing of Terrence Tant who subjected the staff working within the shop to an extremely terrifying ordeal, threatening one with a knife before stealing cash from the till and assaulting the other member of staff outside the shop.

“Thanks to the actions of one of the shopkeepers and members of the public, Douglas was arrested and charged a short time after the incident and will now face the consequences of his actions.

“Threatening behaviour and robbery will not be tolerated in our area and we will always work tirelessly to ensure that such offenders are brought before the courts.”

Appeal after break-in at Morrisons supermarket

Police are appealing for information following a break-in at a supermarket on New Swanston in the Dreghorn area in the early hours of this morning.

Police appeal after Slateford robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in the Slateford area. The incident happened around 7.50pm on Saturday outside an address on Hutchison Loan.

A 19-year-old woman was approached by a man, who stole her black handbag before running in the direction of Slateford Road.

The man is described as being white, in his 50s, 5ft 9 with an average build, short grey or black hair and stubble. He was wearing dark clothing, including a dark grey hoodie, with the hood down.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Howat, of Corstorphine CID, said: “It is very fortunate that there were no injuries as a result of this robbery, but the victim has been left shaken and upset by the loss of her bag and its contents.

“Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the area and have established that the suspect was seen acting strangely in the front garden of a neighbouring property shortly before the incident took place.

“We would be keen to hear from anyone else who either witnessed the robbery itself or saw any suspicious activity in the area throughout the evening.”

Appeal after Royal Mile whisky robbery

Police are investigating following a high-value break-in and theft in the city centre. The incident happened sometime between 10pm on Friday 7th September and 6.40am on Saturday 8th September at the Whisky Trail licensed premises on the High Street.

Witness appeal following George Street robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in the city centre. The incident happened around 5.30am on Friday (6th September) on George Street.

A 41-year-old woman was walking close to the Bank of Scotland premises near the junction with Frederick Street when she was approached by a male who demanded her property before grabbing the bag she was carrying. He then walked westbound on George Street.

Inquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect and anyone with information or who saw a male acting suspiciously in the George Street area at the time is asked to come forward.

The suspect is described as male, white, 5’6”, 18-22 years, brown hair, wearing a dark zip up jacket, dark trousers and brown boots. He spoke with a local Edinburgh accent.

Detective Sergeant Lesley Robertson from the Violence Reduction Unit at Gayfield Police Station said: “Thankfully the victim was unhurt however was left badly shaken. We are now conducting various lines of inquiry to trace the suspect and anyone who was on George Street at the time and can help us identify this male should contact police immediately.”

Police release CCTV images following Saughtonhall robbery

Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in connection a robbery in Saughtonhall Drive.

A man entered a convenience store on Saughtonhall Drive at around 5.30pm on Friday 26th July and threatened staff before leaving with a three-figure sum of cash.

He is described as white, aged in his thirties, around 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a navy-coloured jacket and dark-coloured jeans.

Detective Constable Craig Donnelly from Corstorphine CID said: “Fortunately nobody was injured during this incident but staff at the premises were left understandably shaken by the ordeal.

“I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man pictured, and who can help identify and trace him, to contact police as soon as possible.”
