Appeal for help to trace missing Peterhead teenager who may have travelled to Edinburgh

Officers are appealing for the help of the public to trace a 17-year-old teenager reported missing from Peterhead who may have travelled to Edinburgh.

Ethanie Labandia (pictured) was last seen around 8 am in the Skelton Street area of Peterhead yesterday (Monday, 17 April). She did not attend school and has not been seen since.

She is described as around 5ft 2ins, of slim build with long, dark hair. When last seen she was wearing a white shirt and dark trousers.

Sergeant Gary Johnston said: “Ethanie did not attend school as expected and concerns are growing for her welfare. She may have travelled to Edinburgh by bus.

“We are asking anyone who has seen Ethanie or knows where she might be to get in touch. If Ethanie becomes aware of this appeal then I would urge her to call us or get in touch with her family so we know she is safe and well.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 1461 of Monday, 17 April, 2023.

Have you seen Nancy?

Police are appealing for information to help trace 76-year-old Nancy Bremner, who has been reported missing.

Nancy was last seen in the Torrance Park area of the city around 3pm yesterday (Sunday) and there is significant concern for her welfare.

She is described as being white, 5ft 1 and slim build, with should-length greying hair. When last seen, she was wearing a pink puffy coat, black jeans and black boots. She is known to frequent the Corstorphine area, including shops at Drumbrae, Glasgow Road and Corstorphine Road.

Inspector Kris Harvey said: “As time passes, our concern for Nancy continues to grow and we are asking for anyone who may have seen her, or has any information on her whereabouts to please come forward as soon as possible.

“You can contact police on 101, quoting incident 2160 of 12 March, 2023.”

Alice: the search goes on

Searches are continuing to trace 28-year-old Alice Byrne who was last seen in the Portobello area on Saturday 1 January.

Alice was last seen by her family at her home around 2am on Saturday, 1 January. She met friends in Marlborough Street and left a flat there between 8am and 10am on Saturday morning.

She may have headed towards the promenade area. Police believe the area would have been busy with the public and vehicles and it is requested that people in the area at the time check pictures, videos or dash cam footage that they may have for any sightings of Alice.

Alice is described as white, around 5ft 6ins in height and of medium build with short black hair. When she was last seen she was wearing a, black top, black jeans ripped at the knees and white trainers.

Chief Inspector Kieran Dougal from Craigmillar Police station said: “Alice is known to frequent the Portobello and New Hailes areas of Edinburgh. Since she was reported missing, officers have been carrying out extensive searches and enquiries in these areas.

“Local officers led by specialist search advisors have been assisted by resources including the air support unit, police dogs and our marine unit.

“Officers will continue to speak to people who know her and who live in the local community. Searches are continuing throughout the area and we would also ask local residents to check their outbuildings and sheds, as well as urging anyone with any information on Alice’s whereabouts to get in touch as soon as possible.”

“This is an upsetting time for Alice’s family who are extremely concerned that she has not been in contact with them since Saturday. This is completely out of character for her.

“I would again urge anyone who has seen Alice since Saturday morning, or anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible. If Alice reads this appeal, I would urge us to phone her family, friends or the Police. Contact 101 quoting reference 0647 of 2 January.”

Police have confirmed that Bervely Chaleka has been traced safe and well. Her family have been notified.

PI Keith Forrester said “Thanks very much for all the shares and comments, they helped us to find Bervely.”

Police in Edinburgh are continuing to seek the public’s support to find Bervely Chaleka, who went mssing on Monday evening.

Bervely is 25 years old and is described as 5’ 7” in height with short black hair. When she was last seen she was wearing a white headscarf, navy jacket and light patterned trousers (see attached picture).

Inspector Keith Forrester from Wester Hailes Police Station said: “Thank you for sharing my previous post and for the feedback so far.

“Bervely is known to have travelled in to the city centre on Monday evening to visit shops on Princes Street and she was seen sitting at the tram stop at St Andrews Square between 7:30pm – 9:30pm before walking away northwards.

Have you seen Zakiyya?

UPDATE: Police have confirmed that 13-year-old Zakiyya Haider has been TRACED safe and well. Police thank the public for their assistance.

Police are appealing for the help of the public to trace a 13 year old girl reported missing from her home in the Corstorphine area of the city.

Zakiyya Haider was last seen around 5pm last night (Friday 21 May) when she left home.

She is described as 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build with long dark hair and brown eyes. When last seen she was wearing all black clothing.

Inspector Keith Forrester said: “Zakiyya’s mum and sister are growing very concerned for her, therefore I would ask anyone who may know where she is to get in touch. Likewise if she sees this appeal please call your family or Police Scotland to let us know you are safe.

Police Scotland has reported that Robbie Russell (25) who had been missing from Wester Hailes, Edinburgh, since Sat, 17 April, has been traced safe and well in Edinburgh this afternoon.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for the help of the public to trace a 25-year-old man reported missing from the Wester Hailes area of the city.

Robbie Russell was last seen around 7am on Saturday (17 April) in the Longstone area. He also has connections in the Sighthill and Dumbryden areas of the city as well as Livingston.

He is described as 5ft 11ins, of slim build with dark brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen he was wearing a black hoodie, black joggers and black and white trainers.

Inspector Keith Forrester said: “We are growing increasing concerned for Robbie and ask anyone who may know where he is to get in touch. Likewise if he sees this appeal, please call your family or Police Scotland to let us know you are safe.

“Anyone who has information that may help us find Robbie is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0571 of Monday 19 April, 2021.”

Missing woman: Can you help?

Police are appealing for information from the public to trace a missing woman from the Edinburgh area.

Alexandra Capone (45), who is also known to use the name Olga or Maria Woonough, was last seen leaving the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh around 8.50am on Thursday, (22 October, 2020).

She is described as white, around 5 ft 9 ins, medium build with short blonde hair and dark roots. Police believe she may be wearing a long beige cardigan, dark leggings or jeans and dark shoes.

Inspector Richard Emerson, of Leith Police Station, said: “Ms Capone is originally from the Brighton and Hove area of Sussex, and we do not believe she has any connections with Edinburgh. She was last seen on Thursday morning.

“It’s not like her to be out of touch with family and friends for this length of time and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.

“We believe she may be in the Leith area or could possibly have travelled further afield. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who knows where Ms Capone is or anyone she may have been in contact with.

“We are also appealing to Ms Capone herself to get in touch with police to let us know she is okay.”

Anyone who may have seen Ms Capone or has any information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0847 of 22 October.”

FOUND – Police Scotland have confirmed that Sofia Aslam (15), who had been reported missing from the Howdenhall area of Edinburgh has been traced safe and well. The public are thanked for their assistance.

MISSING FEMALE – SOFIA ASLAM

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a missing Edinburgh teenager. Sofia, also known as Bushra, was last seen in the Howdenhall Road area around 6pm last Thursday (17th September 2020).

The 15 year old has not been seen since and there are growing concerns for her welfare.

Sofia is described as being a Pakistani female, slim build, 5ft tall with long dark hair.

Last seen wearing purple crop top, black jeans and white adidas trainers.

Sofia has links to the Scottish Borders area.

VULNERABLE MISSING MAN – SELIM EL SYED – LEITH

Police are appealing for the public’s assistance in tracing Selim El Syed (54) who has been reported missing from Leith.

Selim was last seen in the East Hermitage Place area around 3.30pm on Monday (17 August 2020).

He is described as Bangladeshi, around 5 ft 5 ins tall, of slim build with dark hair. He has a noticeable gait and when walking may appear to shuffle.

Inspector Grant McCulloch said: “We are very concerned for Selim’s welfare and officers are currently carrying out a number of searches to trace him. He is known to travel to rural parts of Scotland by bus and train and will sleep outdoors.

“I would urge anyone who has seen Selim, or has any information on his whereabouts, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1409 of 19 August.”

Lesley traced safe and well

UPDATE: Police Scotland have confirmed that Leslie Adam, 60, who had been reported missing from Edinburgh, has been traced SAFE AND WELL.

Police are appealing for information to help trace a woman reported missing from Corstoprhine.

Leslie Adam, (60) was last seen at her home address in the Bughtlin area around 2am on Sunday, 16 August. She is believed to have left around 9am on the same date on foot and has not been seen or heard from since. There is growing concern for her welfare.

She is described as being 5ft 5ins tall and of a heavy build. Leslie is thought to have recently cut her white hair which is described as being a very short, shaved cut. At the time she went missing she is believed to have been wearing a dark bomber style jacket.

Inspector Keith Forrester from Corstorphine police station said: “Along with her family, we are becoming increasingly concerned for Leslie’s welfare and are keen to locate her as soon as possible.

“It is very out of character for Leslie to not keep in contact with her family, she left on foot but has limited mobility so we believe she may have used a bus or taxi to travel.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen her to contact us as soon as possible. Similarly, if Leslie is reading this, let us know you are safe and well.”
