Aimee Jane murder: man arrested

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Aimee Jane Cannon in West Calder.

Aimee Jane (26) was found with a number of serious injuries at a property on Learmonth Crescent, West Calder around 6.35pm on Saturday, 7 May, 2022. 

Enquiries remain ongoing following the arrest.

Barnton burglaries: arrested man to appear in court

A 31-year-old man has been charged with six offences related to housebreakings and theft.

Officers responded to a call from a member of the public in the Barnton area during the early hours of Tuesday morning (18 January) regarding suspicious activity.

Officers attended and arrested the man nearby. The charges relate to offences which took place between 15 and 18 January 2022.

The man will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

West Granton Road attempted robbery: man to appear in court

A man has been arrested and charged following an attempted robbery at a convenience store on West Granton Road.

The incident happened around 7.45am yesterday (Sunday, 10 October). The 31-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow (Tuesday 12 October).

Detective Inspector Kevin Tait said: “Fortunately no one was hurt and there was no threat to the wider public. I would like to thank the public for their patience.”

Death of Muirhouse two year old: Man arrested

A two-year-old boy has died after being found seriously injured in a flat in Muirhouse Place West, local police have confirmed.

Chief Inspector David Happs, from Drylaw Police Station, said: “Around 9.30am on Saturday, 21 November, 2020, officers and emergency services were called to an address in the Muirhouse area where a two-year-old child was found seriously injured.

The wee boy, who has now been named as Julius Czapla, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

“A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident, enquiries are at an early stage and ongoing.

“We understand an incident such as this can cause distress and alarm to the local community. There will be a continued police presence in the area as we conduct enquiries.”

“Anyone with information that may assist the investigation should report this to Police on 101, quoting incident number 1010 of 21 November.”
