Waterfront: all systems go

The City of Edinburgh Council has bought the former National Grid site on Granton’s waterfront after an agreement was reached with National Grid on Tuesday. Development of the site is critical to the Council’s plans to deliver a vibrant city quarter and accelerate the delivery of new homes for people on low and middle incomes, and the deal has been welcomed by local MSPs.  Continue reading Waterfront: all systems go

Granton plans ‘not good enough’, say Wardie Bay residents

Scathing criticism of Lower Granton Road improvement proposals
Wardie Bay Residents say that the proposed cycle path for Lower Granton Road is not good enough for the Waterfront.  The local campaigners say the proposal falls far behind the quality required of the Waterfront Promenade strategy in terms of design, scope and quality of materials proposed and add that it could be a huge waste of money if either the tram or the long awaited road realignment go ahead.

News from Granton Castle Walled Garden

Dear volunteers and visitors,
Early March was welcomed by blizzard conditions at the walled garden but spring is returning and the birds singing again. The Friends Group will be hosting another drop-in Open Door noon tour and would love it if any of the garden volunteers would like to help or just come along to catch up with everyone and have your say about the latest plans for the garden’s restoration.
The garden will be open from 12-2ish Saturday 17th March. (unless it is bucketing with rain or snowing then a cancellation will go out via Facebook on the day)

Wardie Bay Beachwatch rescheduled again

Now it’s SUNDAY 11 March from 10.30am

Ok… I’m sorry. Yet again, I’ve had to postpone.

I didn’t need to do this once last year, but my priority is a decent and thorough data survey & beachclean 🏖

The beach really needs it. It’s currently covered in tyres and sewage waste and, of course, oceans of plastic. Nature is choking.
I also want us to do a nurdle hunt for those insidious plastic pellets directly from industry waste.
Saturday’s weather forecast is obviously awful! 🌊
We can’t do a decent job in torrential rain & wind. So. please join our growing army on Sunday!!! I really need you to come this weekend.
The more the merrier. Many hands make light work. etc. etc.

With love

Karen
p.s.  Bring your Mums!  & please help spread the word. 💙
