Granton goes to Holyrood: GIC’s pioneering work to be celebrated at Scottish Parliament

Granton Information Centre’s pioneering work is to be celebrated at an event at the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood tomorrow.

Hosted by Gordon Macdonald MSP, the event will celebrate and share the learning from the pioneering role that Granton Information Centre has played in developing partnerships with general practice and NHS early years services over the last sixteen years.

Tomorrow’s event will consider the benefits of embedding advice services in primary health care settings and offer an opportunity to hear about research and resources that have been developed to support the approach.

This model of delivering advice services enables general practice to provide person-centred care, tackles health inequalities and child poverty, and improves individual health and well-being.

It is currently being rolled out across Scotland. The event will bring together interested organisations from both the public and third sectors, to reflect on progress to date and to consider future developments.

GIC continues to provide well-attended local outreach surgeries at both Muirhouse Medical Group and Crewe Medical Centre and has gone on to establish further partnerships in Leith, Restalrig and at the Access Point for people who are experiencing homelessness.
