The Fair & Ethical Trade on the Fringe is celebrating its ten year anniversary in the city, with a performance from World Fair Trade piper Louise Marshall this week, alongside a wide range of exhibitors selling and showcasing their Fair Trade arts, crafts and products from around the world on Castle Street, Edinburgh.

Every year since 2009, organizers Hand Up events have brought together a unique offering to Edinburgh – during the international Edinburgh Festivals –  with a range of fair trade, ethical as well beautiful Scottish hand crafted gifts offering shoppers a truly ethical experience on the Fringe.

Tania Pramschufer, Director of Hand Up Events said: “We are delighted to say our Fair & Ethical Trade on the Fringe has been running for ten years and has grown in the mix of traders, ethical producers and designers. We are keen to continue to keep Fair Trade right out there on the High Street and not hidden away, giving shoppers a truly ethical choice.

World Fair Trade Tartan exhibitor, Eve Broadis added: “We are very passionate about our new World Fair Trade Tartan designs and products range created with our Cambodian partner, Villageworks and delighted to be able to participate in this Fair trade event in the heart of the city during the festivals, and giving us a platform for our Fair Trade message directly to visitors and consumers.”

Fair Trade jewellery exhibitor, Meredith Copland, Meredith Jewellery added: “We are delighted to be a part of the ten year old, Fair & Ethical Trade on the Fringe showcase.

“We are a small, 25 year old ethical jewellery business working with artisans in Bali. Our business is run as a collaboration with no middlemen and we develop our designs as a collaboration and this is a great way to display and sell our work.”

Fair & Ethical Trade on the Fringe has been taking place on Castle Street since 2009 and will be running for one week in Castle Street. It promotes fair and ethically sourced and traded products as well as local arts and crafts. It has attracted exhibitors from across the globe, from as far as Zambia, Kenya, India, Chile and Bali.
