Edinburgh Festival Fringe: here we go …

NEW STREETS AHEAD

Today (Friday 3 August) Edinburgh Festival Fringe will officially unveil a completely new look to the Virgin Money Street Events.

Here’s a wee taster of some of the things to look out for…

Bigger and better

As the Fringe is open to anything and everything we’ll be revealing larger, more flexible stages that can host bigger groups and more unusual performances. Later in the month, the High Street will play host to spectacular Fringe showcases and a full aerial rig for the first time.

Open to all

The Street Events are often an individual’s first experience of the wonderful world of the Fringe. We’ve worked to ensure this is available to all with new initiatives such as our autism backpacks, BSL interpretation of performances and more accessible viewing points for street performance spaces.

Easier to navigate

Full listings for each day’s events will be available to view on edfringe.com and on numerous display boards around the High Street and the Mound Precinct.

Modernised

The Fringe is set to be the first festival in the world to offer visitors the ability to tap-to-tip performers and buskers using contactless payment cards.

But this is just the beginning…

The streetscape will be full of weird and wonderful surprises that you’ll have to come and see for yourself from Friday 3 August.
