The Scottish SPCA is urging the public to help them care for abused, abandoned and injured animals, like Snoop, in Scotland. Scotland’s animal welfare charity is in with a chance of winning £50,000 as part of the Pets at Home Love to Give scheme.
Scottish SPCA Edinburgh Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre Diane Aitchison said, “We don’t receive any government or lottery funding which means we rely entirely on the public to be able to continue our work rescuing and rehoming animals in desperate need of our help.
“This money will go straight towards the animals in our care, and will pay for vet treatment, toys, treats and much more to continue the everyday running of our centres.
“Last year our centre in Edinburgh cared for 987 rescued animals which highlights just how busy we are.
“Without these donations we would not be able to continue our vital work rescuing and rehoming abandoned and unwanted animals in Scotland.”

Case study – Snoop
Snoop was severely emaciated and seriously dehydrated when he was rescued by one of our inspectors (above). He was immediately put on intravenous fluids and the vets were unsure if he would make it through the night. When Snoop was admitted into our care he weighed a mere 5.85kg, by the time he was rehomed, he weighed a healthy 14.2kg (below).
