Members of the Power to the People group are calling on local groups and individuals from North Edinburgh to join them at a lobby of the full council meeting on Thursday 21 January to protest against what Unison describe as the “worst cuts in living memory”.
If approved, the cuts will affect many of the services we all benefit from including street cleaning, early years provision, libraries, youth work, adult learning, home care, day care, disability services. Proposals to cut the grants to many local projects in North Edinburgh could ultimately lead to their closure. These projects have provided vital local services to this community for many years and need to be defended.
The lobby will take place from 8.45 to 9.45 at the City Chambers on the High Street. Transport will be available for people who have mobility problems. Contact Royston/Wardieburn Community Centre on 552 5700 if you would like to book a seat on the bus.
Join the protest. Defend our services. Make your views known before it’s too late!
