A-Team Productions are producing a brand new show and touring it to three venues in Edinburgh next month. “Next Stop: Broadway” is a revue style production, showcasing songs from musicals old and new.
From walking into the venue and taking your seat you will be transported to the streets of New York and thrown into an immersive production where you will connect with the characters and be captivated by their stories.
A-Team Productions is a North Edinburgh-based not-for-profit youth theatre company founded in 2013. It offers young people aged 11-18 the chance to take part in a musical production, with a four month rehearsal period followed by a week of shows. A-Team promotes team work through team building exercises and as well as rehearsing, the cast take part in games and activities to build confidence and trust.
“Next Stop: Broadway” features 36 young people who have been rehearsing since early October, working on acting, singing and dancing skills lead by the director Sean Quinn, Musical Director Ian Sutherland, Acting and Singing tutor Sally Cairns and a few guest tutors too.
Director Sean Quinn said: “I’m not going to list the musicals involved as I don’t want to give the game away but we spent two months focusing on the song selection and transitions alone!
“We have placed a huge amount of importance on the tempo and flow of the production, there are no distracting scene changes and characters connect in interesting ways. Our production team are working very hard to push the boundaries of what is possible on a touring show of this scale, there are plenty of intricate moments and we are embracing the latest technology to bring complicated concepts to the stage.”
