Slateford gang attack: Three more youths arrested and charged

A further three youths have been arrested and charged in connection with the serious assault of a teenager in Edinburgh on Monday, 2 December, 2024.

Around 8pm, a 14-year-old boy sustained serious injuries when he was assaulted by a group of youths at Slateford Green.

Following enquiries, three male youths aged 16, 17 and 17 were due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday – Monday, 9 December.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Gordon Couper said: “Our enquiries are continuing to trace everyone who was involved in this unprovoked attack.

“Officers remain in the area carrying out high visibility patrols and I encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak to them.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have dashcam or private CCTV footage to contact us as soon as possible.”

South Bridge assault: Can you help?

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault which occurred in the city centre on Friday, 31 May, 2024.

Around 11.50pm a 36-year-old man was waiting at a bus stop on South Bridge when a man, who was unknown to the victim, walked past and punched him in the face.

The victim then made his way to another bus stop and travelled home. He later attended Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he received treatment for a broken jaw.

The suspect is described as white, of slim build, and was wearing a white and blue t-shirt and a rucksack.

Detective Sergeant Steven Gray said: “This was a completely unprovoked assault and it is vital that we trace the person responsible.

“There were several members of the public nearby at the time waiting for buses and we would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.

“We would also urge anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage to check in case they have captured anything which could be of significance to our enquiries.

Police seek witnesses to serious assault in Gilmerton

Detectives in Edinburgh are appealing for information following a serious assault which took place on Drum Street in Gilmerton on Saturday night.

The incident happened between 11pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, 25 July, when a group of three men attacked a 29-year-old man. The victim is being treated at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.

The group of three men left the area in the direction of Newtoft Street. One of them is described as being in his 30s, 6ft with a muscular build and short dark hair. He was wearing a white top, dark trousers and dark shoes.

DC Dale Miles, from Edinburgh CID, said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack, which has left the victim with serious and potentially life-changing injuries.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to come forward.”
